I had otoplasty done by Dr. Keith Jeffords back in 2011. After meeting with several plastic surgeons, I decided to go with him because he made me feel like he was very experienced with otoplasty and knew exactly what he was doing. It turned out to be the worst decision I've ever made. All I was wanting was for my ears to protrude less, but he absolutely botched them...they look deformed now. I'd do anything to have my dumbo ears back. He did not tell me that he was making incisions on both the back, AND front of my ears. If I'd have known this, I would've ran. I've met with more surgeons than I can count to see about getting a revision done, but majority have told me that there's nothing they can do to help me. They are all shocked with my results and say that they don't know what he was thinking. I wouldn't wish this on anybody. I always wonder if these reviews are real or exaggerated, but trust me, it's 100% real unfortunately.

Terribly sorry that you had a bad experience and that you are not able to have a revision. Thank you for sharing your story on RealSelf. Only if you are comfortable, would you share some photos with the community?

Yes, I actually tried to upload a picture but it wouldn't load. I'll try again!

The changes that have occurred in your case are edges and retractions resulting from the working of the cartilage, because the cartilage was made thinner unevenly. This is a well-known disadvantage that can arise from the use of a traditional ear pinning method. Such deformations no longer occur when protruding ears are pinned with the stitch method, as there is no working of the cartilage in this method. Unfortunately, the changes you have obtained can’t be eliminated because the removed cartilage can no longer grow back.

Thank you for sharing photos. I have to say that I don't think your ears look deformed or bad in any way. They actually look very good, you can faintly see the scar on the inside, but I don't think that I would have noticed it had you not mentioned it was there.

i can see some damage if its any consolation it can get much much worse than this after failed otoplasty. Theres very very few surgeons that would be able to fix this without making it worse. The only surgeon that has the most experience with ear surgery who might be able to help you is Francoise Firmin clinique Bizet paris."Firmin regularly visits hospitals in Switzerland, Finland, Sweden, Singapore, Australia and the Middle East. Her greatest triumph came when she reconstructed the ear, nose and chin of a woman who went on to become a fashion model."

I keep looking at your pic trying to figure out what scar you are talking about. I rarely say this as I know what it's like to have scars, but I think it's less noticeable than you think or maybe the pic doesn't do it justice?

Theres some cartilage damage under the skin of the lower crus of the antihelix. Not a scar of such. its not that noticeable im not sure if a casual observer would notice it.There might of been a accumulation of blood under the skin lifting the perichondrium off the cartilage causing the cartilage to deform.id be inclined to leave as it is as it would be very difficult to correct

I feel for you as my 2 year old has a lop ear that will need to be fixed when she's older. I can't imagine how they'll fix it without leaving a scar!
