First Day
First Visit - First Impression
When i walked in, the office staff was amazing. They made me feel welcome and were so friendly.
Then I met Dr Basil Shaheen. He walked in wearing scrubs and cowboy boots. He sat down and he talked to me. He LISTENED to me. They took pictures of my body and I expressed (for the first time outload) the concerns I had about my body, my lack of confidence, and the pain. He listened. Then he gave me options. He didn't push me into surgery, but he made me feel comfortable and seen. He knew exactly what I was feeling. He said this is the surgery I need to get my life back. This surgery was MADE for people like me. He was right.
He took all of the info from my dermatologist and helped me get scheduled for a panniculectomy. SCARY but I felt so supported.
First Day
I had rashes under my apron belly about 25 days out of the month, nothing helped. I felt nasty, didn't want to have sex, and didn't want to do anything because it hurt. These rashes hurt so much.
At the encouragement of the dermatologist, I reached out to Northeast Georgia Plastic Surgery and was scheduled to see Dr. Basil Shaheen.
I was a big girl, I felt disgusting and I was in pain. I worked up the courage to be a fat girl walking into a plastic surgery office. I was scared - would they laugh me out of there? Would they even believe that I have TRIED to lose weight but I found it to be so hard? But mainly, they would laugh me out. I was fat. There's nothing they can do to help me. Then, I DID walk into the office and my life changed.
