Lip Lift with Valentine Procedure - Panama City, FL

Change of Plans

$3,500
On the morning of surgery, my ps again looked closely at the thick bulged area under my nose. He said he was having reservations about the bullhorn lip lift because the outcome could be unpredictable; perhaps an unnaturally rolled out upper lip. He has done quite a few lip lifts, and I appreciated his cautious approach. He suggested that we proceed with the Valentine corner lift, CO2 laser in the lower face, and radiesse into the lip edges and assess the result. Although I was disappointed that my overly long philtrum would not be corrected, I agreed we should play it safe. I plan to investigate this further and seek additional opinions.
I did go through with the suggested procedures and will post a photo soon. I won't have the cute, feminine look that many on here have achieved with a lip lift, but hopefully there will be an improvement for the time being that will detract from the issue.

BTW, I also had a brow lift and upper bleph done. I will start a separate review for this. The dr did not take such a conservative approach for these procedures.
Better safe than sorry. Your doctor did the wise thing and was upfront about his concerns with the outcome. I'm sure you achieved a very nice and youthful look with your valentine corner lift and fillers. You sure are a brace lady to go through all of the above procedures in one day. You go girl! My gosh, you must look amazing!! A total restoration in one operation. That's the way to go. Looking forward to seeing your posts. Sending you healing vibes. BTW, I'm still home recuperating with my surgery, and I'm on the mend, feeling better every day. Good luck to you my friend !
When you say bulge, do you mean you have a thick area of skin underneath the nose, or is it the underlying anatomy or bone structure? I cannot tell from the picture.

I think it's great your doctor informed you about the risks. Maybe you will find a doctor who can work with your features to get the outcome you would like.

Good luck moving forward and keep us posted!
Thanks for your good question. The dr commented that he was unsure, and there could possibly be some cartilage which would mean some type of rhinoplasty might be needed in combination to make it look right. It's very mysterious to me. I think what concerned him most is that when he pressed upward with his fingers to get a sense for what the end result would be, it did not appear as he was used to seeing. He didn't rule out the possibility that a lip lift might work out fine, but the fact that something was a little different was a red flag.
Hope you're healing well and not in much pain at this point. You really had what sounds like a face lift! You covered the upper and lower portion of your face. You must be in awe with all your revisions. Do you even recognize yourself in the mirror? :-). Enjoy, you must look amazing.
Will you be posting some post op pictures?

Pre-op Visit (1/20/2017)

Yesterday I had my pre-op consultation with Dr. Ceydeli. After examining my face, he wrote down "conservative lip lift" in his notes without any prompting from me. He acknowledged that the distance has become too long, but when considering my facial features he feels that an aggressive reduction could cause the center of the lip to look oddly pulled up and out of place, even with the valentine corner lift to help level things. He noted that I have a slightly bulged area right under my nose and would see about addressing that. There will be dissolvable sutures inside, and external ones that will be removed at one week. No muscle will be cut. The surgery will be done with local numbing, even my brow lift. I feel good about this because I don't want to be hooked up to an IV and knocked out with anesthesia, and dependent on someone to make sure I'm getting oxygen. It will be safer this way and recovery will be easier. I think he said the lip and corner lift would take about an hour. Oh, and he will be injecting radiesse into the lip edges and philtrum for aesthethics, to add definition, not overall volume.

Your doctor seems like he has a great eye for this procedure and will have you with a very natural look. Did he make mention of how many mm he will be removing ?
He said he would only be removing about 3 mm. I know that supposedly the ideal lip length for a female is 11 mm, but I will be satisfied with a modest improvement. There have been some spectacular results, though, for some brave people on realself who have had more removed.
I'm pretty sure that my ps will take the same conservative approach. I also admire those who have had a lift with a substantial amount removed. I would personally be afraid that I'd turn out looking like Daffy Duck.
Only 3? Have you pulled your lip up to see what 3mm really looks like? I've read as many reviews on here as possible and haven't seen anyone happy with less than 5mm removed... I don't think you'll notice any difference in distance in my honest opinion, but I hope I'm wrong and you love it!
I agree with you that removing a large amount sometimes gives a dramatic improvement. I've also noticed that there can be a tradeoff if increased tension causes a slightly larger scar, and a couple have ended up with a triangle shape that I don't care for. Maybe 5 mm as you have mentioned as a minimum would be a good compromise.
I tend to agree with you. Less is more. I'm assuming that my ps will remove approximately 5 mm as well. I really am aiming for a natural look, not pulled.
I think 5mm is good for a conservative approach. I agree you don't want to take too much off, that's why I'd say play with it before hand-measure and pull your lip up to see what 3 vs 5mm looks like. I just haven't seen any reviewer happy with only 3mm off. They all complain they don't notice anything and are getting a revision. I think the scars after a revision are at risk for being more noticeable/large (as are the scars after taking a lot off as you mentioned).
Good luck with your surgery tomorrow. I'm sending you good vibes!!!

I had braces late in life for over 2 years, and when they were taken off it seemed that the distance between my nose and upper lip had been stretched longer. I measure about 20 mm, and to me this gives an unattractive appearance. The plastic surgeon said that a lip lift would pull up only the middle of the lip and create a downward frown, and strongly recommended a valentine procedure at the same time to lift the corners. Although I am fearful of scars, I believe he is correct. The surgery is scheduled for 15 February. I am having a brow lift at the same time, and may cover this in a separate review.

I have the same problem. I had four teeth extracted with braces in my early 30s and it increased the space between nose and upper lip. I used to have a pouty upper lip. I love the shape of my mouth now, and my profile is improved to a more symmetrical position, but I do not like the distance straight on.

I have been researching lip lifts for two years and will probably get one next year to correct this.

Good luck with everything and keep us updated on your results!
Thanks for the well wishes. I do plan to post updates and photos, especially since I haven't seen a detailed review of a lip lift by Dr. Ceydeli in this forum. The before and after photos on his website look good, and his patient ratings are excellent, so I am optimistic for a good result.
I'm having the same procedure on February 17. I have a rather large philtrum and it's bothered me for sometime. Last year I had a rhinoplasty and it made that area more pronounced. Good luck with your lip lift. We have something in common.
Thanks, this will be really nice to have someone to share experiences with in real time. Good luck to you, too.
Thank you. I also had a brow lift!! It was the beginning of the year. After turning 60 my face started aging!! You can view my profile. It shows my surgery and pix. Good luck.
Hi. Looks like we will be having our lip lifts very soon!! Keep me posted. Did you have your pre op? Is it in the office or hospital? Bull horn technique? What meds are you instructed to use after ? Thanks for answering all my questions. We have things in common!!!!!! Thanks, RANDI❤️
My pre-op will be on 20 Jan, and then I'll have a separate appointment with the nurse on 31 Jan. That's fine with me. I'm glad to have the extra visit to ask questions and be prepared. It will be an office procedure and will be bull horn with lift of the corners. I have expressed that I want a conservative approach, and at pre-op will ask how many mm the doctor recommends. The photos you posted on your reviews look terrific! The lip lift will be the finishing touch.
It is very nice that you have an opportunity to meet twice before the procedure. I'm writing all my concerns down, and will bring it to my pre op. Did she/he suggest the corner Lip also? Omg you got a great price quote for both lifts!!!! I'm paying the same for just the lip lift!! Did you have to pay any extra for supplies? How long should it take with a lip and corner lift?
As a preemptive measure I should probably add that the braces were not the entire source of the problem. I wouldn't want any orthodontists to become defensive.
Looking forward to your review I believe this is one of my next procedures
Thanks, I'll look forward to your feedback when I post photos of my results.
I'm getting the lip lift too, two days after!!! Can't wait.
Be careful if he recommends CO2 lasering to go along with this . I am permanently scared from him performing this procedure on me. I also had the Valentine procedure, which I'm more or less happy with, but I do have scars, which I was assured that I wouldn't.! Always, always, buyer be ware. Everyone's body is going to heal differently! I unfortunately had a very bad experience with human and maybe machine failure with my CO2 experience!!
Thanks, I really appreciate your advice. Dr. Ceydeli did say he would be including CO2 lasering in the lower face area, which I am happy about because you can see in my photo that my skin is a little bit rough. Is your scarring in various areas from the laser setting being too strong, or is the scarring near an incision that the laser contacted? I'm assuming that the incision area and sutures should be covered with something to make sure they are completely protected from any energy from the laser.
I'm assuming the setting was too high. I never really got a satisfactory explanation. I have had to have multiple cortisone shots and more lasering to calm my keloid scars down. Very painful. I say CO2 is NOT WORTH THE RISK!!
