Ok, so this is my story, I am a 35yo 5´2", 127 pounds mother of 4, all through C-sections. I have been very active all my life but not very good dieting. I like my food and my wine! My body has changed with each pregnancy, (started having kids in 113 pounds and finished in 123) and now I have a tummy that looks like I am 5 month pregnant, no matter how much or what kind of exercise I do and although the rest of my body is already back to normal.
I have suffered since my third pregnancy of terrible episodes of bloating, gas and very painful stomach aches. I visited several gastros and none could tell me what the problem was, only that I had irritable bowel syndrome due to stress.
Last year I had BA and an umbilical hernia repaired. The PS suggested a Mini TT but I wasn´t sure so declined. Since my stomach aches continued I consulted a toxicologist as my last resource. She suggested probiotics, Kyolic vitamins, Magnesium and MSM pills. The situation improved considerably, but my 5 month pouch persisted only that now is a 3 month old one. I have also had after my fourth pregnancy, almost 2 years ago, abdominal pain episodes that are so intense I can barely walk. They come and go, and are related to moments of stress in my life. Last one was last Wednesday and it really scared me.
Doing some research I have come to the conclusion that I have a ventral hernia due to my four pregnancies. I consulted a general surgeon and he said he can fix it but that I will have a scar in the middle of my tummy. He suggested a Tummy Tuck instead. I consulted a dermatologist friend and another general surgeon who specializes in laparoscopy. They both suggested a TT in able to solve the problem with the least visible scars possible.
Finally I went back to my PS. He offered to fix the ventral hernia, do some lipo on the flanks and finally do a full TT. The only problem was that because he already fixed my umbilical hernia, he suggested a floating umbilicus TT so he won´t compromise the blood flow that irrigates my umbilicus.
Because I want my problem SOLVED, I did more research, and the floating umbilicus TT is not very popular. If I am going through surgery again, I expect a flat tummy, no more abdominal pain and a normal looking umbilicus. I would also like VERY much if my insurance would cover at least the ventral hernia part of the procedure. So based on others experience:
What are my options?
Thank you for your answers and comments.
