WORTH IT
Hi, everyone! So I'm very petite at 4' 10 1/2" and a size 34DD-E which is not only looks huge on my small frame, but definitely puts strain on my back, as well. I'm 25 years old and ready to finally be rid of them.

Background: When I was in 6th grade, I saw one of the "popular" 8th grade girls had big, beautiful boobs and I prayed that I would be blessed with similar ones someday. Well, I was. And the "blessings" have just kept on growing, no matter what I do! Losing weight and exercising hasn't done anything to stop them. People have always commented on the fact that I have large boobs despite my small stature (apparently they don't they know that it's inappropriate and makes me even more self-conscious?!) and more than a few guys have been interested in me solely because I'm short with big boobs and they think that makes me easier to sleep with. (Because I have big boobs MUST mean I'm a [RS bleep], right? *sarcasm*)

Between the pain, the unwanted attention, the assumptions about me , and the anxiety that comes with that unwanted attention and those assumptions about me, my boobs have been a source of unhappiness ever since I got them. I also have severe social anxiety and that compounds it even more because I always felt like people were judging me because of the size of my boobs. (Fun fact: A lot of them actually were. It wasn't just my anxiety. People assume all sorts of ridiculous things because of your chest size.) Add in the fun of not being able to wear anything with buttons, a v neck, or straps, wear a bathing suit in public and feeling constantly self-conscious, having to squash my boobs as tightly as I can to my chest so I can exercise, and looking heavier due to my boobs spreading out and not having anywhere to go except under my armpits and into my back, you can imagine how much I want these things reduced.

So I scheduled a consultation with a plastic surgeon to see if I'd be a good candidate for a breast reduction. I was worried that insurance wouldn't cover it because you need a certain amount removed in order for it to be covered and as a shorter woman, I don't have as large of breasts as taller women do, even though for my size, the ratio is just as disproportionate and the pain is just as bad.

Thankfully, insurance did actually cover it (I have Blue Cross Blue Shield) and my surgery is scheduled for August 14th! My pre-op appointment is the day before and I'm very excited! I'll be updating periodically with pictures of my progress and what my new boobs look like! I'm very excited to be pain-free, wear stuff I haven't been able to wear since before I hit puberty, and not feel self-conscious all the time! =)

Good luck on your surgery, I had the same problem, small frame with large breast. I waited waiting way too long!!! I'm very happy with the outcome and can finally where tops that are fashionable and no longer have back pain. It really makes a huge difference.

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to it! Glad your surgery went well and you're happy with your results! =)

Anything you wish you knew before surgery that you know now that you're willing to share? I'm trying to prepare for the recovery period and make it as painless as possible.

I swear we are in the same boat I'm 5' tall so I totally understand ! It must be a Panama City thing lol ! Don't you just love when people come up and grab your boobs like you are a zoo exhibit "Omg they are so nice !" Thank you but I would rather fall in the shadows if being short and having a large chest gives me this attention ! Good luck on your surgery and I hope to get a approved and scheduled soon also!

Thank you for sharing. I scheduled for surgery sept 21st. I'm 5' & 34G. I feel like a little bulldog. Your posts really made me feel at ease. I've been a bundle of nerves and have small panic attacks every few days wondering if I'm doing the right thing. Thanks for sharing your journey. :)

Update on Bra Size

So I had never actually known mybtrue bra size before and now that I'm getting my breast reduction, I'd say it's time to finally know for sure! Actually, it's probably past time. Anyway, so I took my measurements and came out at a 33G. Holy cow! I thought I was a DD at most! I'm definitely glad I'm getting this reduction! I never knew just how much boobage I've been carrying around so long!

Also, I forgot to tell you guys about what's going to happen in the procedure. My PS is basicslly going to do a modified lollipop mixed with an anchor, but the modification is so only one half of the anchor (the sides closest to the arms) will be cut. That way, the scars heal faster and fade more easily since they won't be right where the bra band is. He's also going to do a bit of lipo, as well, since I have quite a bit of breast tissue underneath my arms and makes me look a lot heavier than I am.

However, my pre-op is this Thursday afternoon so I'll confirm this all for you guys since it's been a while since my initial consultation. Insurance took it's sweet time, that's for sure! But I'm very happy to have been approved so I can get a new lease on life with a smaller pair of boobs!

I'm very excited! I can't wait to see what they look like after the surgery, even more so now that I know I'm a 33G. That shouldn't happen, especially if you're under 5 feet tall!

Anyone have any tips or advice that they wish they would be known before the surgery that they'd like to share? I'm a bit nervous about the surgery and the recovery process and I'd be very grateful if you guys had an advice to share!

Good luck tomorrow!! I too am short (5'0) and have really large boobs. I haven't been in for my consult yet, so i don't know the true size of my boobs, but I'd say they are equal to or larger than yours. Keep us posted on how things go!!

Is anyone else having their breast reduction on or around August 14th, too? Mine is bright and early 8 am Friday morning! Might not need the anesthesia, haha. I'll be dead asleep as soon as I hit the hospital bed!

Yes I was scheduled for my BR August 10 at 12 noon. But sadly it was cancelled due to the doctor flight being cancelled. Now they are trying to see if the doc can do it this Friday. I am so stressed out due to the fact thy my new boss prolly won't give me time off again. Hopefully thy can do it instead of doing it in sept
