Days 6-8 Post-Op
WORTH IT
Day 6: Ironically enough, the problem I had driving down to Orlando from PCB had nothing to do my surgery and everything to do with a stomach bug I picked up. So I managed to turn what should've been a 6-6 1/2 hour drive tops into a whopping 12 hour drive. Ugh. It was pretty miserable. My boobs were a little sore on the bumps, but I think it was because I was wearing a more comfortable but less supportive bra to stay comfortable on the drive.
Day 7: I felt great today with minimal pain due to sleeping in my insanely comfortable bed with a ridiculously fluffy pillow topper and lots of pillows to support me. I was even able to sleep on my stomach (sort-of) with a pillow under my boobs. Interview went well and they ended up sending me an email 2 hours after my interview saying they'd love me as an intern! Yay! Anyway, I have some pictures from that day of me in clothes and also topless to show just how much they're improving!
I got some new sterile wound pads and steri strips at Target after the interview so I replaced the old steri strips with new ones since it'd been a week. My PS said I didn't need them and could take them off at any time, but I feel a little better with them on to guard against rubbing when I wear my bra since I still have to wear it 24/7.
Day 8: I managed to get some dried blood off so I look a little less like my boobs were beaten up. I was also able to exercise today! Nothing too intense, but I did many of the exercises from a DVD I was working with before my surgery called the Xtend Barre Workout. You can get it for $9 as an instant download on Amazon and it's amazing! It's a great, feel-good workout that is very low-impact and sculpts your whole body. I did exercises from all 3 sections (upper body, barre, and core) and felt great! I took it slow and worked my way up as I realized it wasn't hurting or going to do any damage. I won't do any jump roping for another 2 weeks at least. Not worth anything happening.
Anyway, that's it for now! I think I'll update just once or twice a week now since it's past the first week. But of course, feel free to ask questions if you're curious about something! I want these updates to help demystify the pre-op, surgery, and post-op process and ease anyone's anxiety. I know I always feel better when I know exactly or at least have a good of an idea as I can get as to what's going to happen when I'm nervous about something. Hopefully these updates are beneficial for someone. Even if it's only for one person, it's worth it! =)

Day 5 Post-Op
Ouch is all I've gotta say. Today was a crappy day. I accidentally flipped onto my stomach while sleeping last night and it HURT. I ache a lot more than I did the last few days. I also oozed all over my sheets and was embarrassed by that since I'm recovering at my parents' house. Felt bad and that set the tone for the rest of the day.
I thought I was going to be staying in PCB recovering for at least another week, but my college's internship office dropped the ball on finding good internships like they were supposed to do so I'll be leaving for Orlando (where I live) tomorrow so I can go to some interviews on Friday.
I'm a little worried about the pain in regards to all the bumps in the car for 7 hours, oozing all over my interview outfit, and feeling well enough for the interviews. I've been kind of down during the recovery process and very subdued so I hope I can seem upbeat and peppy enough. I'm going to have to find a bra that supports me enough but is also comfortable and doesn't show any lines. We'll see how that goes.
Took a shower today and felt better. Did the same thing I did in the first shower where I let the water and the sudsy and soapy water just run over my boobs. I'm using more pillows on either side of me so I don't fiip over again tonight. If you're just starting recovery or about to start and you sleep on your stomach a lot, get lots of pillows and put some on the sides of you! That way, if you flip over, you'll be partially flipped over on a comfy pillow rather than totally flipped and sandwiching your newly healing beauties in-between you and the mattress.
Anyway, I'll let you guys know how the car ride and bra shopping goes tomorrow, along with if I feel more upbeat. As always, I may just need more coffee in me. =)

Days 3-4 Post-Op
Hi, guys! Sorry I didn't update yesterday. I was going to take pictures after I showered last night, but ended up being so exhausted after showering that I just collapsed.
Day 3: Day 3 was very long. I was up and moving around a lot more rather than sleeping so much, but I developed a rash from the Clindamycin on my stomach that started to spread to my back and under my arms. It's pretty itchy. =( So I called my PS and he said I didn't have to take the Clindamycin since I didn't have any drains and I was pretty safe from infection. So that's good.
I showered very carefully and let the water and soapy water just run over my chest instead of touching it at all. I removed the gauze by letting it get soaked by the water and then peeling it off gently if it still was sticking a little bit. My right boob seems to be a little worse off than the left, but that's probably because the right had more grams removed from it.
I have some yellow-ish bruising, a couple blisters from the steri strips, lumpy nipples, and a little rippling around the nipples, but all of that should be okay. It felt great to shower! Though for some reason, I get a little woozy when I think about my boobs or the surgery. So much so that I almost passed out a couple times in the shower. But that might have also been due to having bad cramps since I got my period yesterday. (It couldn't wait until next week?!)
Day 4: I had my first follow-up appointment today! My PS said I was healing remarkably well and my boobs don't look as boxy as they could've been. He also said I can remove the steri strips at any time, though I'm going to wait for them to come off more on their own for a couple days before taking them off just in case. He said I can use my hands to gently wash my boobs on Friday, though not with a washcloth just yet. He also said that the boxiness, rippling, bruising, and lumpiness will all go away with time and not to worry about that. As he walked out, he said to his nurse, "Gosh, she's healing really well!" so yay! =)
Today is my first day being here by myself without anyone to help. It's going all right! I can lift my smaller dogs 14-18 pounds without any trouble and have minimal pain. In fact, my cramps are the worst pain I've had all day, go figure. I'm still taking it easy, but I'm going to go for a walk with my mom tonight so I can stretch my legs and get some exercise. Looking forward to that. My neck and back also kind of hurt, but that's probably because I'm not used to sleeping on my back. I devised a way to take the pressure off my boobs so I could sleep on my stomach before the surgery and I also like sleeping on my side so I never sleep on my back if I can help it. The pillows to keep me elevated are also keeping my neck at an odd angle, too.
That's about it for today! Loving the way they look, even swollen and lumpy! =D

You look great! I am one week post-op from a breast lift as well. Are you using any type of surgical bra?

August 18, 2015
Thanks! I'm just using a tight bra I found as a surgical one. It's the Playtex 18 Hour one and it's got a good mix of compression, support, and comfort. I couldn't find any that clasped in the front like a surgical or compression bra so I had to improvise. How about you?

August 18, 2015
You look great! Definitely smaller, and love the pics with the tank top for comparison, you look so much lighter! I really hope I'm able to do this soon so I can feel better about myself and pain free (: I'm jealous of how smooth your journey has been so far, I hope it'll be like that for me whenever I get this done! Looking forward to see how they heal!

August 20, 2015
Thanks! I purposely used the tank top in case I felt like they were still too big and I was unhappy with them. But Dr. McAllister did a great job! Hope you can get your procedure done as soon as possible! You'll definitely feel and see the difference!
August 18, 2015
Great. You're gonna feel better and better each day.

August 20, 2015
I hope so! I accidentally flipped onto my stomach when I was sleeping last night and it was painful. I also oozed all over the sheets. =(

Omg you look amazing ! Talk about instantly slimming !!!!! I cannot wait for the first "Normal shirt" experience !!!

August 20, 2015
Thanks!! I'm beyond thrilled with my results! I'll be trying on some stuff that I've saved for when I "lost weight" (meaning: tried to reduce the size of my boob naturally) in a couple of days and I'm very excited!
August 20, 2015
Didn't we all purchase clothes for the future time when we "lost weight"? I purchased a couple of expensive blazers about a year ago. From Europe. Couldn't button them. I wasn't sure when I would lose the weight and be able to wear them ever ....but came to realize that it wasn't gonna happen in my lifetime. Had BR and TT. The clothes now fit; in fact I ordered a size smaller in LLBean Tee Shirts which just tried on and they fit. Happy dance! Of course, nothing is forever and doctor advised me that early feelings of fullness (satiety) would be decreasing so I'd better think carefully about how I have been eating these last couple of weeks.

I noticed you're wearing a normal t-shirt! Were you able to lift your arms above your head (or did you need help?) I bought some that I can't wait to wear, but read a number of people can't lift their arms above their head for several weeks post-surgery. Thanks so much!

How come you didn't have your surgery done down here?
I have family up in PCB and they said they'd be able to help with the recovery so I wouldn't have to do stuff by myself. Dr. McAllister also was highly recommended to my mom by other cancer survivors in the area who got breast reconstruction done and said he was amazing. They were definitely right!
