flanks questions re lipo/swelling

WORTH IT$11,500
I'm a little bummed to see that I still have lumpy/foldy stuff going on on my back after and extensive TT and lipo - do you think this is something that will go away (a la swelling)? Because of the emboli, I can't have any more elective surgery so I don't think I would be a candidate for correction. Could you take a look at the photo and tell me what you think?

Thanks!

Dr. Weintraub is one half of the Duet plastic surgery team. The fact that the two surgeons work together on the procedure was part of the reason I booked a consultation with her - it means being under anesthesia for less time, making it less risky, not to mention the perspective and expertise of two surgeons. Doctor Weintraub is an excellent listener - she asked questions about my physical history, what I hoped for from the surgery, what my concerns were, and was particularly thorough about my medical history. She made sure I had some lab tests and a check up with my cardiologist before my procedure because I had some mild precious episodes and she wanted to be sure it was safe. I hope this doesn't sound weird, but I could tell that she actually cared about me as a person and about my life, not just me as a "case." Of course bedside manner doesn't matter if the technique is not good, but after practically interrogating Dr. W. about how she would improve my stomach, and after looking through her book of before and after photos, I felt very confident that she would do good work. Frankly, I also like the idea of a woman surgeon. I felt like she would have a much better understanding of the feelings that had led me to the decision to have the surgery, and about what kind of result would suit me as a person. (e.g. I am 47 YO and a tall Scandinavian with several big kids - it would look odd if I suddenly had a six pack - I wanted flat, but realistically so). Long story short, she did beautiful job. She and her surgery partner work with a wonderful anesthesiologist who had a great combination of sardonic humor and confidence, and it was the best anesthetic experience I've had. We talked World Cup and vacations and then I woke up in recovery. The day after surgery, for me, was the hardest. Even with percocet and valium, I was miserable every time I had to get up to go to the bathroom. The doctor needs to see the patient the day after surgery but Dr. W, rather than making her patients go through the pain of getting in the car and hobbling into the office, comes to her patients' homes for that first-day visit. For me that meant a 45 minute drive for her, each way. That consideration epitomizes Dr. Weintraub. A week after the surgery I developed a serious health issue - one that had nothing at all to do with Dr. W.'s work. Thankfully she is so approachable and had stayed in such regular contact that I felt completely comfortable calling her about these symptoms that had nothing to do with my TT. She contacted triage at the local ER for me and told me to go there immediately. Had we not established such rapport I might not have called a doctor, and the consequences could have been terrible. I ended up in the hospital for a week for treatment for this other issue and she came to see me there, to check on my dressings and remove my drains. This was 30 miles from her regular practice. She really goes above and beyond for her patients and I would recommend her to anyone.

Hi there! How are you recovering with the emboli and blood clots in both legs? I also had a blood clot on my left leg only 1 day short from 2 weeks after my surgery. It is VERY scary. I'm so glad you look like you are doing well and healing from everything. As far as your last concern posted, I am sure it is swelling. My surgery was only 11 days before yours and I still swell so much, especially below the belly button area in the form of a V-shape. I am swollen by 10am everyday and it concerns me too. Other than that, you are looking great!! :)

5 weeks post TT - I got a bikini (photo)

I ordered a bikini on clearance because I just wanted to see if I could pull it off. Well, Kate Upton I am not, and boy to I have a farmer tan, *and* there is still lots of swelling plus markings from the binders I wear at night, but I am pretty darned happy with how I look - not bad for 47!

The bad side : pulmonary emboli and blood clots in both legs

Be very careful if you are taking the birth control pill before having this or any surgery. It has been scary and painful.

So sorry about the blood clots. Did you stop taking the pills before surgery? If so how long before? How did you know you had blot clots? Hoping you are doing much better!
Hi Newday, I didn't stop taking the pills, nor did my surgeon tell me too. I think the risks really are very small, I just happened to be to the "lucky" one (kind of ironic since I don't even take them for birth control ;). But had I known I would have gone off them. This has not been fun.
Question - I saw in your after photos that your upper abdomen protrudes a bit (above the belly button). I have the exact same thing, and am 4 weeks post op. Does your doctor think it's just swelling, or is that just the shape of the body? I had surgery after 140 lb weight loss so I'm not sure what my body is supposed to look like. But it bothers me. Seeing my PS tomorrow.
I saw your question here-I am exactly the same! My ps said it was fluid build up and said to massage down and out past the hips-it can't drain straight down until the area has healed! That has helped, to a degree!! However every night immediately after tea I swell there(3-4") which is quite alarming, having not really found any answers here I trailed the net earlier to day and their was a thread consisting of 8 pages of mainly women who all have this issue some a few years post tt and none of tem have managed to get it resolved :( :( :( I am going to raise the issue again at my next check up-it would be good to compare notes with you!!
Thanks for replying! I saw my PS yesterday for my 6 week post op and brought it up again. He said it had something to do with the lymph nodes healing. Keeping an eye on it. Ask you doctor about that and lets keep comparing notes.
Will do. Lymph nodes or lymphatic drainage? Due to see Ps in 2 1/2 weeks so will report back.Ijust can't help thinking if it is the drainage why are some ladies still experiencing the same issue several years later!
Yay you look go so far tho:) :)
