Excessive underarm sweating was a real issue for...
Excessive underarm sweating was a real issue for me. My clothing was constantly wrecked, I was paranoid about smell, and nothing but a round of very expensive Botox every 6 months would prevent the constant wetness.
The MiraDry procedure took perhaps 90 minutes from when I stepped through the door, filled out the paperwork, had the procedure, and left. It was a very relaxed event, and I was able to leave my tank top on, so I wasn't left feeling over-exposed or vulnerable in any way. My pits were marked, to guide the actual device, and then a LOT of numbing happened. I felt only the first little pinch, but if you don't like needles, don't look. This anesthetizing process was extensive and took a decent amount of time. Dr Lim took great care with this step, leaving me completely impervious to pain. I also think there was quite a lot of fluid pumped into the armpit area.
The actual MiraDry procedure is uneventful and a bit boring. The device is methodically placed at various points on your marked underarm area, and then (forgive my perspective but this is what it felt like) it sucked, and then zapped. I felt nothing but the sensation of my pits being sucked. It was odd but not uncomfortable.
After it was done, I had two swollen pits with a grid of hickeys all over them. The following day, there was more swelling, and I wouldn't have looked out of place in a 1970s East German Shotput team. But here is the GREAT part: for me, from day one, NO SWEAT. And as an added bonus, a week or so later, no hair either. The swelling took, I'd say, around three weeks to diminish. And then it was done. It was unbelievable.
And just to follow up - in the four or so months since I had this procedure, I've attended two weddings in the Southern Hemisphere. One, a midsummer's event, had me dancing all night in hot temps, with no antiperspirant and a silk dress. And not a drop of sweat was seen. And to follow that, the second wedding was in the Cook Islands (South Pacific), with 90% humidity and extremely warm temperatures. During one particularly hot day there was a moment when I realized that I was sweating from every pore. Sweat was running down my back, down my face, down my legs. My dress was stuck to my body, with one exception - my bone dry armpits.
Long story short, if excessive sweating is an issue for you, I wholeheartedly recommend miraDry. You not only relieve yourself of anxiety about odor, tons of laundry, and powerful antiperspirants which are not so good for the body, you will never need to shave under your arms again.
