Update 10/13

Here it is 7 weeks post surgery: it's moving right along getting better every day, it's just a pain down here in south Florida to stay out of the sun - I have 4 dogs to walk - so I always have to remember to put a hat on! I have also started using Cerave am moisturizer with 30 sunblock - I'm allergic to most, this is working for me so far.

3 weeks post Mohs Surgery

Scar is feeling better - I keep massaging vaseline on it to keep it moist - I'm really happy with how it is progressing.

Update with picture of the original "defect" and tips for good results

I had this surgery because Basal Cell will continue to grow. I know everyone says this is the "good" cancer - but it can be extremely disfiguring. When Dr. Cooper did the close - I wanted the steri-strips to stay on - they help hold everything in place - I avoided the area as much as I could - I washed around it, tried not to touch it - I didn't need any prescription pain meds (i'm allergic to most) - the area was sore for a few days - and I took ibuprofen (can't take tylenol)- the hardest part was sleeping so I didn't squash the site. When I went back to Dr. Cooper's on 9/1 (1 week post op) they removed the steri-strips and he said I was a quick healer. Since the strips have been removed, I've kept vaseline on the scar and if I go out in the sun (it's Florida), I put a band-aid with vaseline on it over the site. I also still sleep with vaseline and a band-aid - I think keeping the area gooped up - helps. Every single day I can tell it is visibly getting better. I'm sure I'll be going through this again - It's worth it to get the treatment you need to have this stuff removed.
