Overpriced MiraDry treatment
NOTE - this is only a review for the *price of MiraDry*. I have not actually undertaken the procedure because I've found other providers offer a more effective protocol at a lower cost. Dr. Welsh is probably very well qualified, and I would encourage you to do your research. That said, at some point between 2013 and 2015, a new MiraDry protocol was adopted. It's called "High Volume Anesthesia" or "HVA". Because this modification makes the treatment very safe, many clinics have found that they could increase the energy delivered to the maximum level (5), and the results are quite good with a single treatment for most patients. The first (and often only) treatment is about $2000 in the Bay Area. *If* you need a second treatment, then it's usually $1000. To quote another MD, "Some patients who are sweat-bothered but don't have hyperhidrosis will benefit from only one treatment." Dr. Welsh's practice recommends two treatments in most cases ($2400 + $1600), which suggests they don't use the newer protocol.
