I have been struggling with excessive hair growth...

I have been struggling with excessive hair growth since I hit puberty but it became particularly worse within the last year. On my neck I would have a few stray hairs but it has since gotten worse to the point where I need to wear foundation to cover it up.
I have been tested for elevated testosterone levels and they all came back normal. I have been put on Diane35 and I believe it has helped a bit.
I did my research and opted for electrolysis rather than LHR. I had my 1st consultation on September 16th 2017 and after my lengthy discussion with the technician, I opted for LHR on my sternum(she is doing this for free as it is a smaller area) front of neck, chin and areole. She then asked if I wanted to do my first session right then and there and I opted do so. I had plucked my hairs a few days prior and they were already growing back in, she wanted to shave my face so that it was as close to the skin as possible but I advised I was against shaving my face because anywhere I shave it becomes very dark and noticeable and i do not want that for my face. She complied, put sunglasses on and then she put a cool gel on and began to laser away - she did shave my areole and sternum as the hairs were longer.
After the session she put sunscreen on the areas, I paid and scheduled my next appointment for exactly 6 weeks later. Immediately after the appointment my skin was red, there were little bumps around my jawline and it was throbbing a little bit. Within two hours all the side effects had subsided if not completely vanished and I was instructed not to take steaming hot showers and avoid any activities that would have me sweating for 24hrs. I did as instructed and applied aloe vera gel to my face. The pictures associated with this post were immediately taken once I got home from my appointment.

Yes, they will eventually start to fade but takes time. I've also started microdermabrasion And it has helped significantly

Did you have scarring prior? Or was that due to the laser?
February 13, 2018
The scarring was prior and due to my hair follicles - hyperpigmentation

okay! glad it’s all better now. I am going soon and have a fear of being burned with the laser.

Talk to your technician and make sure they don't turn it up too high and then you should be fine

I had the same hair growth issue. My hormones were being disrupted by some products I was using. I went on the EWG website, looked up every personal care product/cleaning product etc & removed everything that was a potential hormone disruptor. For me, it ended up being an ingredient in my skincare and makeup. Especially since the hairs started kicking up about a year ago- anything new you have started using since then?

September 18th - two days after LHR

Esiya
Two days later and I began to firm scabs on mainly the neck area. I believe she may have turned the setting up too high for the area. I contacted them through the website (they have an online chat) and they instructed me to continue using polysporin. I became very worried at this point because I heard of the horror stories regarding burns. I began to question if it was really worth it. At this point I was spending 5 more minutes in the morning just to cover the front of my neck and the scabs. Every day, two or three times a day I used polysporin and aloe Vera gel to help with the scabs. Two days later I received a call from my LHR technician and she told me to come in because she wanted to see the scabs. I went in that same day and she said they will not scar, she advised to keep using polysporin and gave me a collagen booster gel to use alongside my aloe and polysporin. She told me the scabs would peel off on their own and not to touch them, she said they would be cleared up within one to two weeks. I didn't quite believe this and was completely discouraged.

By the second week, she was right. The scabs peeled off to reveal my normal skin underneath without any hyperpigmentation or scars. I would say approximately 5 hairs fell out gradually as the hairs grew back in.

My face started to grow back the hair as usual and now I was concerned about how I was going to hide this. Again, I was very adamant about not shaving my face so I went to Sallys beauty supply and bought an eyebrow shaper. I shaved each individual hair rather than my whole neck and chin. I had to do this every few days.

At this point I couldn't wait for my next appointment which was October 28th.

I need to know if IPL better or laser hair removal because I wrote in this page https://goo.gl/kfskRZ IPL is better

I didn't go with IPL as I was advised it is not as effective on darker skin. I was advised that the coolglide YAG laser's are best for darker skin tones

October 28th - 2nd LHR appointment

Esiya
I had been anxiously waiting for this day to come as the hair was growing in at its usual pace and I wanted everything gone. I wanted results.

My appointment was at 10:45am, I got up took a shower and used my eyebrow shape to cut as many of the hairs down as I could. I went downtown to my appointment and she told me she was going to turn it down this time to prevent any scabbing as last time. She looked at my face and said I needed to get a closer shave. I was very reluctant but I decided that if I needed this to work I have to put all cards on the table. At least if it didn't work I can say I did everything as instructed. I let her shave my face, STERNUM and areole area. She put the cool gel on as she did the best time, I put the goggles on and she began to laser away. The sternum and breasts never really hurt but under my chin was uncomfortable. She advised under my neck was in the best growth cycle. I could smell more burning hair than the first session. After about 20-30 minutes I was all done and ready to pay. She put sunscreen and I left. This time I didn't have any reaction as I did the first time, my skin looked normal.

Once I got home I had a sense of relief but now I was worried what would come of my face once the hairs grew back in considering she shaved under my chin, my chin and even did my side burns because she felt they were hormonal hairs.

Today is November 2nd and i feel the stubble already and I am concerned that the light hairs on my face are going to become dark coarse hairs.

My dark spots from excessive plucking on my neck and chin have lightened significantly. Around my right breast they haven't lightened up so much but I was moreso concerned about the dark spots on my neck and face. She said after I see a significant hat reduction I can look into a carbon Peel or microdermabrasion to help with dark marks but she does not recommend it yet.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens...

I realize this is late, but please know that shaving will not make those light hairs coarser. Time and age take care of that. Plucking will DEFINITELY give you dark spots.

Yes, I realize that now. Back then I was so scared of that and now since the only thing I am able to do is shave..i definitely learned my lesson. Thank you for reading my review :)
