Recessed Jaws, Asymmetric Face, Sloped Forehead, Huge Nose. I Need Your Help - Osloß, DE

I live in Norway, Europe and I will turn 18 soon. I used to have a 9 mm overbite. I've had braces. In order to get them my dentist pulled out two teeth from my upper and two from my lower jaw. He pulled both my lower and upper jaw backwards to fix the overbite. Now I have a recessed jaw, a sloped forehead, asymmetrical jaw, big nose and my teeth don't look like they're in line with my mouth and nose. and really really low self-esteem. Did my dentist screw me over? What should I do? Genioplasty? Chin implant? Or a jaw surgery? (Im scared as hell for this after reading the reviews..)

I'm sorry to hear that you have low self-esteem. I hope you find support here in the community. If you're interested in orthognathic surgery, I suggest posting your photos/question to the doctor Q&A part of the community to get doctor's opinions, in addition to posting here.

I have nearly the same face at 45 years old. It still bothers me to this day. I'm confident, artistic, intelligent, but this still bothers me every time I see a picture of myself from the side. People tell me I look so good "in pictures" (when my face is directly facing the camera).

So, if it really bothers you so much, just have it changed now while you're still young and before you make permanent friends or whatever.

I'm even thinking about it now.

Same problem. Im not that bothered with my front profile, my side profile on the other hand......

I will try and save up some money the next months/years and get it fixed, thats for sure. Just don't know what procedures to do..

If possible take a side profile pic and play with it in photoshop or a similar program. Don't go overboard. I had a friend who had a similar face and he got his nose hacked off and he looks ridiculous. His tiny nose doesn't match the shape of his face at all, it's obviously a nose job and more importantly it just doesn't look good.

So I really recommend trying the photoshop thing and get a nice medium, that still looks like you, but not so drastic. I've found that it' style small chin/jaw that looks worse, and outward nose can still look good as log as it' snot "too" big.

Sorry, correction- I've found that IT'S THE small chin/jaw

An implant can fix the slope, though look into the kind that is injected and shaped from the outside not unlike putty, as scarring is minimal with this procedure. Look to lower your nose bridge and have the nose tip tilted upwards for a less droopy, hooked nose.

That wont really fix the recessed jaw tho, as that is the main problem.

Yeah, not sure about that, which is why I focused on whatever else. Speak to a board-certified maxilofacial surgeon. They offer much better insight on the kind of procedure(s) necessary to achieve the aesthetic results you desire.

I have read about medical schools doing these procedures. The head surgeon performs the surgery as students learn and assist. The cost is much lower. University of Utah may do this. Also if you have breathing problems because nose isn't straight, deviated septum, perhaps insurance will cover some or all of rhinoplasty? Best Wishes.

I'm having the same issue man. I had a extremely bad overbite and the orthodontist that the best solution to correct the overbite was to take two teeth out from the top and bottom of my mouth. I've always been insecure about my appearance and that has overall impacted my interactions with people in my life. I been bullied and looked down upon too, and as a result I been a long time sufferer of social anxiety. It's been 5 months since he pulled out my teeth and feel like I look worse than I did before. The teeth haven't come together yet, so I been contemplating jaw surgery. I'm a 17 year old Male by the way. If anyone is going through the same situation just send me a message, I'll be happy to talk.
