I Regret Double Jaw Surgery

UPDATED FROM sammypas98
23 days post

3 weeks post op from double jaw surgery with a sliding genioplasty.

I’m 3 weeks post op and I was wondering if I still had a lot of swelling? I still feel my chin looks huge on me and only looks even bigger when I smile, so I’m a bit worried! I don’t want a manly looking chin!

You have a ton of swelling. Give it another few months
I think your side profile is looking fantastic! It's barely a month and swelling can take up to a year to fully subside. Right now it's way too early to tell what your final features and results will be. Try not to scrutinize. You're looking great!!!
I think you look great too!
I had the same surgery you're not going to be able to truly see the final results for at least 6 months. Trust me I was worried. But you look great to me
Give it time sis

I Regret Double Jaw Surgery

On August 15th 2019 I underwent Double Jaw surgery with genioplasty. And I HATE IT. It’s like he didn’t even take my facial features into account. Everyday I cry so much because of the huge masculine chin this man gave me. I was so beautiful before with a very feminine small chin and now I look like a man ! My depression is so bad I can’t take a picture or look into a mirror without crying. I don’t know what to do. I wear a face mask at all times when I leave my house. I’m truly upset and don’t know what to do.

I chuckled at this because giiiirl. Your swelling will last another 7 months and you will be obsessed with how pretty you look in about 5 weeks .. chiiiill. Your whole face is swollen, including your chin
I think it's just swelling and you look gorgeous! So symmetrical and even. Don't worry! You'll get used to it and keep reminding yourself why you had surgery to begin with because it's not done for no reason.
Ahhh, yeah! I really just need to wait an see! Nothing happens over night. I hope to gain my confidence back soon enough!
You are so very early in your recovery process, please do not beat yourself up!! Add all the pain meds and body struggling to recover it an be overwhelming. Swelling can take 6 months- a year before things settle down unfortunately... if around that time you are still unhappy then you know something must change. Be kind to yourself, somehow it will work out!
Thank you I really appreciate it! I will do that!
This is the first time I have felt the need to comment here because I am pretty introverted. We have a similar face structure (I have a more recessed chin/larger nose). I know it must feel intense right now, but the other comments are correct - swelling has such a big impact on how you feel now, but once it goes down, you will get a much better idea of the results and everything will even out. Even with the swelling, you look beautiful and amazing. All the work you put in will be worth it, stay strong gorgeous!!
Thank you! I’m 3 weeks post op and I feel like the lack of food and speaking issues definitely come into play along with the swelling and insecurities. Ends up making me feel worse, beating myself up for no reason. But I mean it’s to expect. This is a serious surgery I went through and the change is huge. I just need to get used to myself.
