Orthodontist Treatment Occlusional Cant/asymmetry

Hello all,

I am writing because I have a concern about my teeth and I cannot seem to find a similar situation online. About 10 years ago I got a baby tooth extracted from my lower jaw line because I had no adult tooth underneath. I was supposed to get an implant but never did. Fast-forward about 7 years, I noticed that my teeth shifted a lot and I no longer had a bite on the side of my mouth that had the missing tooth. My lower teeth were also at a slant, but I didn’t really notice that until recently.

I decided to get braces to bring my teeth back into place, and then get an implant. I had braces only on the lower teeth for about 7 months, and then invisiline for almost 2 years. The invisiline and braces helped a lot and my teeth are back in place. I just recently got the invisiline off and I am preparing to get an implant very soon.

My issue is that my lower teeth are still at a slant (not horizontal, my dentist mentioned something about an occlusional cant) and my smile is crooked. My gums show a lot only on my left side of my smile and I don’t like it. It has also affected the way my face looks when I don't smile. My dentist apparently thinks this is no big deal. I know that my bone deteriorated a lot from having a missing tooth and that is probably what caused my teeth to go down on that side. Both my bottom and top teeth are lower on my left side than my right, which causes my gum to show a lot more on one side of my smile.

My question is:

Is there a way to fix this without TADS?

Will my teeth move after I get the implant? (will the upper and lower teeth start shifting back up since the upper teeth have something to sit on top of?)

Should I hold off on getting the implant/is there a way to fix this problem before I get the implant?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

you simply need a bimaxillary surgery to correct the slant. There isq no other solution.

No way, that's a complete lie. TADs work perfectly to correct, I can testify from experience.

Hellur1, your note above is in the reviews section. You should post this in the Q&A section so doctors will see and respond to it. Also I don’t necessarily agree with Loving’s comment that surgery is the only way, but why against TADS? TADS are an effective/non-surgical way to intrude the teeth into the maxilla. But might move on its own over several years however as we age things, including our smiles, tend to move down with gravity and not up.

Definitely get the TAD it's not bad... I had about 10 in my jaws at one time. One is nothing! It also appears that you might benefit from lip filler to the right of your lip which will help with asymmetry
