My Double Jaw Surgery Experience in Seoul
I'm an African American women who traveled to Seoul in September for 2 jaw and genioplasty surgery. I decided on Dr Lee after months of research on different sites such as purseforum and realself.com, and by speaking with him thru Kakao messaging. I found Dr. Lee to be very knowledgeable, helpful, and very kind. When I first reached out to Dr Lee in April I sent him photos abd he advised I had some asymmetry and a protuded mouth. I arrived in Seoul on 9/2 and had my consultation with Dr. Lee on 9/3, which lasted for almost 2 hrs. During this time x-rays of my teeth were taken, blood testing was completed, molds of my teeth were taken, and computer generated after photo was made. I was pleased with the expected result and how kind and warm all the nurses and assistants in the office were. Dr. Lee answered all my questions to my satisfaction and we agreed to proceed with the surgery on 9/7.
I arrived at the clinic that Friday morning at 10am. I was taken to the ward to change into my surgical clothes and was taken to the operating room. At this point I was completely nervous and scared, I freaked myself out and made my blood pressure increase. I laid on the table and was given the anesthesia and was told I would feel some tingling in my head, next thing you know i was been woken up by the nurses. I was in soo much pain. I was wheeled to the ward and was taken care of for the next 3 days. The 1st 6 hours is the worst, as you can't sleep or drink that was the hardest part because i was so thristy and tired. After the 3rd day i went back to my air b&b for the rest of my recovery. I saw Dr Lee 4 times before I left Seoul on the 24th. If your interested in this surgery, i would definitely recommend the Face Dental, all the staff is kind and friendly, and Dr. Lee is very straight forward and knowledgeable and they offer a great price. I also seen other English speaking patients there during my time.
As of today 10/8/18, I'm currently 1 month post. I like the outcome, its just taking me sometime to get used to the changed. I'm also just a little worried about my smile. Right now when i smile only my lower teeth show and my smile is pushed back further in my mouth. Im guessing i have to give it more time to resolve itself. Other than that my healing seems to be going well. Ive regained feeling in all my face except my chin. I was told may take months to regain sensation.
