You had a very favorable outcome...kudos to your surgeon! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you very much! I’m very pleased as well
You look fantastic, def worth it in ur case , dis u lose the weight too! How typical in average person lose the weight after jaw surgery! Mine is scheduled in next few months
Thanks so much! I lost 17pds in the first 3 weeks or so. I gained it back once I was able to start eating solid foods again
Sounds good , but I aim to lose 10 pound permenantly :) how about numbness do you hav any still!
Ok you will lose more than 10 for sure. It's been a little over two years so the numbing is pretty much gone. I would say I have 90-95% sensation back
You look incredible!! Kudos to your surgeon. Do you happen to know how many mm did he move on the upper jaw? Because it seems like the movement there makes your face grow more ‘forward’ and has the biggest impact on your mid face (eg, fat positioning/ fuller mid face, etc..) Also did he push back your lower jaw because looks like you had class III type before. Thank you for your post!
Thanks so much! I don't know the exact amount he moved forward but yes it definitely changes the shape of your face and widens the nose a bit. I was worried about that prior to surgery but I'm glad the result turned out fine. I still look like myself just better. My lower jaw was pushed back as well and I also had a genioplasty to fully compliment the move!
You look so good but so expensive!!!
ORIGINAL POST

Black Woman’s Jaw Surgery Review

I had double jaw surgery on Feb 19th 2018 to correct my underbite. During the procedure my doctor removed my wisdom teeth, a genioplasty, as well submental liposuction.
The recovery was BRUTAL. I thought I was fully prepared for post op swelling but nothing could have prepared for just how crazy swollen I ended up being especially in my lips. They were. Huge and they stayed that way for weeks. It was unsightly and really uncomfortable.

How was it getting your insurance to pay for it?
I’m not going to lie, it was very stressful getting them to pay as they gave me a really hard time! They ended up paying for it thankfully but it definitely a stressful process that caused me to miss my initial surgery date! I had to push it out by a very days!
When you say recovery was brutal, in reference to the pain? Is the pain terrible? Your results are so bomb BUT I'm getting scared
No pain at all actually because your face is so numb for so long. When I say brutal I mean just it’s very uncomfortable because you are so swollen. You can’t eat solid food so you’re hangry lol, it’s hard to sleep the first few days so you’re tired. It’s hard to speak, and then you can’t laugh or smile and that was really hard for me lol. I don’t regret surgery at all because I love my results but recovery wasn’t a walk in the park. You should mentally prepare yourself that’s all. Again, pain isn’t the issue no pain at all.
Who was your surgeon? You look great!
Thank you! His name is Dr. Todd Hanna. He’s located in NYC! His Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/BriCiMXAW3-/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1p5qcv7d61pia
I'm scheduled for 07/11 with UNC waiting for my insurance BCBS
Ok good luck! At least you started the process early.
Thank you or posting pictures- so helpful! Your results look amazing. Very subtle and natural change but such a dramatic improvement! I’m glad you are experiencing improved quality of life, and that your insurance paid for it. Cheers!
Thank you!
