After losing weight, I was left with a huge hanging pannus that left me feeling insecure, uncomfortable, unable to fit into normal clothes, and undesirable. At age 56, I had retired from a wonderful job, my husband retired after 30 years of military service, and we were starting a new life (without our grown and now married children!) in Florida. My hanging gut was a constant reminder of how I had let myself go, had lost weight, and now had to pay for the consequences. I would lift it up while standing in the mirror and imagine how happy I would be if I could "just cut it off."
After much research on RealSelf, I decided to at least go for a consultation. I was fully prepared for the answer of "you are too old and nothing can be done." Your story is similar to mine! Congratulations on making the decision to have the procefure! I too feel like a new woman and am enjoying wearing firm fitting dresses without a huge jelly belly! I'm 7 weeks post right now. My doc will need to do a little more lipo and scar correction at about 6 months to make everything perfect (included in his original fee, yay), so I'm figuring I'll be completely done after a year from original surgery.
