OO Muscle Compromised Lip Lift

UPDATED FROM SreySaphung

2+ years

WORTH IT$4,700
It has been over 2 years that I had my lip lift so here’s some updated pics. Scar is very light and can be covered up with makeup. However, I am planning on having vampire facial aka microneedling in the future to not only helps blend in the lighted scar, but also for collagen purposes as well.

I really think you look great! I wanted a consultation but he has some very bad reviews disastrous kind of bad that worries me
Yeah, I think he’s a hit or miss. I’m glad mine didn’t turn out disastrous.
Save your money and go see Dr. Mascaro.
Why do so many surgeons say never to cut the muscle and some only fold it and sew it but not cut as they say it causes scar tissue to form so confusing

10+ Months Post-Op

It has been a little over 10 months now and everything starting to looks good. I use scar cream and massaging daily, but no kenalog shot whatsoever. There are some good and bad outcomes with kenalog shot so I just let it heal naturally (with the help of scar cream). At this point, there are still some stiffness and numbness, but tightness have diminished greatly. I think my procedure definitely heals longer than just skin excision, but love the outcome so far. Will update again after a year post-op.

Looks amazing. How do your contacts react?
I haven’t see them since, and supposedly this past March and this summer. Due to stay at home order and Covid-19, I probably won’t be seeing them until next year.
Thank you for your update. You look beautiful! Such a nice improvement. I am almost 8 weeks out from my skin excision lip lift. The healing process for me has been long. I wish I had looked into having a liplift using your doctor. The thought of my lip dropping, which it will, and maybe going through this surgery again is very unappealing. Would you mind sharing which scar cream you are using? I am massaging my pink, lumpy scar area and have been researching scar creams. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us!
I am using Kelocote and Biocorneum interchangeably. I also use scar tape (that can be cut down to any shapes and sizes) when it’s super sunny outside.
Thank you so much for your response. I will look into purchasing the scar creams and tape. Maybe the creams will help in eliminating the redness in my subnasel area. Thank you again for posting your lip lift journey along with your photos. You have been an inspiration!
Absolutely beautiful
Did your collumella get lower after a lip lift? I’ve seen a few people mention it changing after
Mine doesn’t changed. I think how the incision were made probably makes a difference in columella position.

OO Muscle Compromised Lip Lift

For so long, I never knew that lip lift could shorten my philtrum. My main concern is my philtrum, and it has gotten longer over the past couple years as I aged. After many research on lip lift and philtrum shortening, I came to a conclusion that this procedure is what I'm looking for. Anyways, I got tired of people telling me that I look tired or mean when I'm not. So here we go...
My situation and procedure is a bit unique as I can't find any information online or here (realself) whatsoever. I have a 22mm philtrum (which is so long), but I didn't want a huge upper lip either. So my Dr suggested that he will cut/removed a strip of my Obicularis Oris muscle as well as skin, so that way, I wouldn't have a super huge upper lip. Then, he would sewed my OO muscle to the muscle underneath my nose. It seems like the healing time is much longer than just skin only LL, but that also mean that I will not need another lip lift ever. I hope this not so common procedure will enlighten others so that they will know what other options available out there.
I am now 6 weeks post-op and everything healed up nicely besides a small infection that I had at week 5.
I will continue to post/update my journey for a year so everybody can see the final result as well as the healing phase.

Thank you for this review! Your procedure sounds fascinating - I'm glad you decided to share and post photos of your beautiful results. Looking forward to your next update!

Amazing. How long is your philtrum now?
Thank you for sharing. You look beautiful and very natural.
As I heard, not too many doctors are willing to do this. May I ask who is your doctor, please?
Susp: it's currently at 12mm at the moment.

VanGal: Exactly! That's why I couldn't find any information anywhere...the closest I found was muscle hemming; which doesn't sound right haha
It's Dr Philip Young, he's also an author :)
Wow, you look like you've healed very nicely and your lip is very feminine and beautiful. Interesting procedure with the Obicularis Oris muscle trimmed. Was it painful and was it done under local anesthesia I assume?
There’s no pain, just the annoying recovery haha. No, I paid an extra $700 to go general because I didn’t wanna be awake since I’m afraid of blood.
