I can't believe I am sharing something so personal (and yeah, embarrassing), but I wish this information was on the web for when I was looking so here I go.

In my 20's I started to get Fordyce white spots on my lips. I visited my doctor and they told me it was normal, 80% of the population deals with it to some degree, there is no treatment for it.

Fordyce spots are misplaced hair follicles that have trapped oil in them. They are harmless and annoying. I apply lipstick constantly because as you can see, most of my upper lip looks like it has lost pigmentation because I have so many of these white spots.

When I found a Groupon advert for a paramedical tattoo artist in my area that specializes in camouflage I decided to research it more. There are a lot of people on the web asking if it can be done, and even one FB tattoo artist claiming that it can be, but I could not find any solid evidence or before and after pictures.

So my tattoo artist (Larissa from Cosmetic Ink in Wellesley, Ontario, Canada) agreed to do a patch test in the bottom corner of my lip two days ago. She colour matched it to my natural lip colour. We have to now watch 6 weeks to see if the colour stays put.

I am so hopeful because two days out I am thrilled that the pigment has covered up the white spots in the bottom corner! But only time will test if this will be a lasting solution and if so, I cannot WAIT.

Keep you all posted. Xo

Unfortunately I am not confident it will work .I had one client with same issue in my 9 years of experience and it inflamed the spots they became swollen and the pigment did not take. Just go slow ask your tech to move the treatments to three sessions and hopefully use a soft tap method avoid the machine. Dawn Hunter, VINE Studios.co

Thanks Dawn, I will share your feedback with her. So far so good but I am not getting that scab that apparently is supposed to develop and fall off. It just looks like a better version of normal right. I guess only time will tell. What did you use with that client who had inflamed spots?

Okay so I had the initial test and all went well, no issues, no problems with the tattoo. It covered the fordyce well and it stayed that way!

However, while I was waiting several weeks to know for sure, I must have reapplied the Blue medicated Blistex like 3x/day because of how dry the season was.

And get this... they went away on their own!! Th are gone! I used to have huge white patches on my lips.... GONE!!!!

So I won't be getting the tattoo after all because this other option worked for me. I had read through tons of forums and a couple commenters mentioned it worked and I was skeptical. So I tried both for myself and I feel pretty confident that either could/should help.

Are they still gone with that blue medicated blistex?
I find that mine ‘seem’ to go away in winter, possibly due to the dry/ old dead skin caused by the cold.
Then in summer they are back and very visible
