I am 63. The facts: 5'7", 155 lbs (down from 192); about 30% body fat. While this is average, with my family history of heart attacks this is actually dangerous. I have already lost about 10 lbs. of body fat since the end of August and have set a goal of about 20-22%. As I sweat, swear and shower my way through the next 25 lbs. of lard, my face will also shrink. I'm already looking older.

My lower to mid facelift is scheduled in Hamilton, ON for June 2017. This gives my body a chance to adapt to the changes and to prepare me emotionally and physically. I will commence with the injectables in January 2017 for a short term boost. Then I will get tweaked with whatever else is needed once the swelling settles.

LIke many of you I was unprepared for how horrid I looked under those lights. Worse, I'd put my eyebrows on wrong and the lipstick was awful. I immediately went to MAC and the hairdresser. Vain?Hell yes. But appearance is the biggest card a woman can play. And when you arm yourself with good health, it's going to look even better (think Sophia Loren, Mamie Van Doren, Jane Fonda).

The procedure is complicated by a previous facelift in 1997. It will involve skin tightening to reduce the risk, along with lipo, fat transfer, and a local anaesthetic by IV. Should take about 5 hours. We are debating what kind of music to have.

NO PHOTOS AND NO NAMES until it's all done. No matter how well intentioned, sometimes things happen and both the surgeon and I have agreed that neither of us want that kind of pressure. This is major league weight loss and surgery. However, I will keep you posted on my progress. Keep me on your list, and I will share the journey with you!





June 2017; about 25 lbs. of fat. This is different from weight loss because it is much harder, but healthier.

Execution :

Overall direction to eat clean daily, allowing for the odd indulgence. Caloric range 500-2000 calories a day, averaging about 1200, counting everything.

Move daily - housework, HIIT, kettleball, skiing, biking, chasing the cat. Focus on increasing intensity at gym, sweating (and swearing) like a Russian sailor. Range of about 500-1200 calories a day, averaging about 800 calories to 1000 calories a day.

Why the big ranges? Because I am human. Some days I really want to eat and/or workout. Other times - MEH. Better to do your best and look at progress over a week. I recently had a setback; analysed the cause and then got back on track.

Measurements via monthly photos (all I can say is WOW) plus weekly measurements using the Hitchfit body fat percentage calculator.

Congratulations on taking this step for yourself! :) That sounds like a wonderful regimen for overall health, as well. That's super exciting.

Today I had my first session with Tanya at the Lotus Spa in Hamilton, ON. There had been a preliminary discussion with Dr. Hynes Dec.1/16 but frankly I chickened out on using much Botox. Instead the focus was hyuralaronic acid under the eyes, marionette lines, corners of the mouth, and chin. Then a quick zap of botox on either side of the chin.

This was a particularly sensitive time for me emotionally having just found out about the sudden death of an acquaintance PLUS discovering that my recent ex was now living with my next door neighbour. No need to watch Jerry Springer today, folks! ;)

With these upsets in mind I honestly didn't expect much from the injections but nonetheless took great care not to put on any makeup and to take it easy (for more reasons than one!) As a result once again I did not take pictures.

I believe it is safe to say that it knocked ten years off my face.

More Progress Jan. 5 2017

In 2016 I renovated my house. In 2017 the focus is on renovating me.

Since August 25 and as of today I have lost over 12 lbs. of body fat, even getting through the holidays! I received a Garmin Vivosmart HR bracelet for Christmas, and am focusing more on getting 150 high intensity minutes a week. Today's adventure with facial fillers took me one step closer. I feel more confident about facing the world tomorrow.
