Sculptra Induced Migraine After IPL Fat Loss

Yesterday, exactly 1 year after my IPL, I got Sculptra in my upper cheeks, bottom of tear trough, and my temples. For 10 months I watched my face deflate down, devastating me, until I got a brow lift (because the IPL caused my eyebrows to fall.) I had so much bruising and swelling from the brow lift that my face filled out again, temporarily. I looked like me again! The swelling kept going down, so I decided to do Sculptra. I wanted a filler that was longer lasting, and I was worried about a fat transfer turning out uneven.
I went to a doctor that has been doing Sculptra since it came out and had 2 good Sculptra reviews on Realself. The nurse told me she has had him do her Sculptra so that made me feel more comfortable about doing it. I did one vial split into 8 syringes. It was painful, but I did ok. There was lidocaine mixed in with it. He told me to massage it for 5 minutes, 5 times per day for 5 days, and gave me ice packs for the bruising and swelling. I was so excited when I left, glad it was over with, and couldn't wait until I could finally see results. I have minimal bruising.
But..... I noticed a mild headache when I got home and took some Tylenol. By the evening it was worse. I woke up in the middle of the night with severe pain on the right side of my head. I have a history of migraines, but they have been 70% less frequent since my brow lift. I am on 2 migraine preventives so when I do get them, I can still function. But not this one. I could barely leave my bed, I was in so much pain and nauseous, and couldn't take ibuprofen until 48 hours after the injections. The muscles on the right side of my neck hurt when I move too. At 9am I called to talk to the doctor on call to make sure they thought it was a migraine and not something more serious, like Sculptra getting into a blood vessel. They thought the injections triggered a bad migraine. The last time I had a migraine this severe was after my IPL. I forgot to mention in my IPL review that it triggered either a cluster headache cycle or migraines almost every day for 6 weeks. I hope this is just a one time bad migraine and not another cycle that lasts for weeks. If it is, I don't think I will have any filler injected ever again.

I haven't had a bad migraine since the one right after the Sculptra, but I am having them more frequently, about 4-5 days per week. But like always, I'm sure it's a temporary phase, and migraines I've dealt with most of my life, but fat loss...,it affects me physically, mentally and emotionally. My swelling has gone down and my deflated face is back. I'm feeling like I am going to have more Sculptra, even with what happened last time.
I named the title of my review the way I did in case the migraine happens to someone else after Sculptra, they can see that they aren't the only one. I saw a forum on here with people that had the same thing happen to them with other fillers, so I think it can just happen to some people.

Frequent migraines are gone!
Serenity99May 22, 2018
The frequent migraines lasted for 7 weeks. I tried gua sha facial scraping suggested by another real selfer and it seemed to help them become less frequent again.
And, I am noticing an increase in volume in my upper cheeks. I am so happy I did this and I will be doing it again. I am suspicious that it may have been the lidocaine in the Sculptra that gave me the bad migraine, so I am going to ask him if I can go without it next time. My temples are still badly sunken in, so I am going to see if he will inject more there than he did last time.

I am starting scultra on my cheeks due to loosing the volume and fat in my cheeks from a biopsy. does it work? I just had one done and I know he was really being on the safe side, but I see no difference. he said I would need three treatments

It took me a month to start noticing a difference. My doctor also said it would take a few treatments. With one treatment, the effects definitely started fading in less than a year
