It has been almost 7 weeks since my Mira-dry...

It has been almost 7 weeks since my Mira-dry procedure, and I'm beyond happy! It went absolutely text-book, and the only 'complications' I've had (if you could even call it that) have been prolonged bruising and swelling, with some lumpiness. No big deal at all, and the results after just one treatment have been awesome. My motivation to try the procedure was simple - I HATE sweating!
I don't have hyper-hydrosis, but I have always been a constant sweater since I'm somewhat hot-natured. I've also lived in a hot, humid climate most of my life (grew up in the South) so I always felt like I had to wear lots of black and stay away from most bright, fun colors. Also no silks or anything other than cottons (this was before there were so many great clothes made with 'dry-fit' types of materials). On humid summer days, or winters inside with the heat on, it was always me running in the ladies room and digging my deoderant out of my purse for a touch-up whenever I was going out socially or to a work function. I got sick of my clothes all having gross yellowed sweat/deoderant stains around the armholes, and that basically caused me to avoid wearing sleeveless shirts (unless they were black).
So I finally decided I would try the Mira-dry when I found a great facility near me (I live in the Midwest now) that was running a special promotion. I paid $1,250 instead of the usual $1,500, so I figured it was as good a time as any to give it a try. I knew I would only have one procedure since that's basically all I could afford, so I had realistic expectations and knew that I'd be happy with ANY decent reduction in sweat/odor. I never went in for an actual consultation - I had done so much online research and watched several You Tube videos (lol) that I felt completely comfortable just going ahead and booking it.
The actual procedure started as they all do with the practitioner placing the templates on each underarm, and marking the placement of the shots. There was a nurse on each arm, so the shots went quickly - there were approximately 45 per side, but the needle is short and the shots are very superficial - not deep at all, and they move quickly. They administered a numbing mix of lidocaine and epinephedrine - no saline as I've read in other reports. That part is unpleasant but only lasts about 5 minutes total with 2 nurses doing the shots. The rest of the procedure is very easy - I didn't feel anything but a tiny bit of heat from the laser, but nothing that needed more numbing. Since I knew I was only doing one treatment, I told the nurse to do me at a Level 5 - the highest level that the laser will go. I wanted to get the most bang for my buck! So after numbing, the rest of the time it's just lying there while the laser does its thing on each arm pit. The whole procedure lasted about an hour total - they started right at noon, and I was in my car by 1:15pm.
They told me to ice every hour or so, and take Ibuprofen as needed for any pain or discomfort.
My underarms were VERY swollen and puffy, with lots of bruising and lumpiness. It's uncomfortable to put your arms down at your sides for several days, and I would advise NOT wearing a tank top for at least the first couple of weeks if you're going out in public - it looks pretty gross! A side note - I had already been doing laser hair removal on my underarms, so I can't say much towards the partial hair reduction from Mira-dry that some people mention, but I'm sure it did help some. The reduction in odor has been pretty much 100%!!, and I'd say my sweat has been reduced by about 70% after one treatment! I really don't have to wear deoderant at all anymore, although I do if I'm going out and wearing a sleeveless top, but that's mostly just to have a pleasant smell when and if I do lift my arms up for any reason. My total healing time to go completely back-to-normal, has been 6 to 7 weeks.
It's an awesome procedure, and even if you don't have hyper-hydrosis, it's totally worth doing!

Update on Mira-dry procedure
sarasepJuly 24, 2015
Just thought I'd post a quick follow-up to my Mira-dry that I had done on May 20, 2015. It's been about 9 weeks now, and I'm still very pleased with the results from my one treatment.
I am a bit worried, though - I have read a couple of posts on this site where the patients were not pleased with the results - that their sweating has returned after TWO treatments! Yikes! I hate that for them and hope that my results continue to be good. It would really suck to waste the money and time and hassle to do this and still be sweating like before.
So far, I still have an approximate 98% reduction in odor, and still about a 70% + reduction in sweating. I've noticed a tiny bit of odor on my right side, and it seems to be only when I'm sweating from stress or anxiety, NOT from the sweating I do at the gym when working out - weird! But it's nothing that even requires deoderant, or that anyone standing next to me would notice (unless maybe they have their nose directly in my armpit - lol!)
I love not having to wear deoderant unless I'm going outside on a hot day in a social situation - like to a backyard cookout or something similar. I'm looking forward to cooler weather because I won't need to wear deoderant at all.
Anyway, so far so good. I hope my results last and my sweating doesn't return. I still recommend this procedure and think it's worth trying for most people.

3 months out - one Miradry treatment
sarasepAugust 25, 2015
I wanted to post a quick update on my one Miradry procedure. I'm still very happy with it, and so far it still seems to be worth it. I still have about a 60%-70% reduction in sweat, and an approximate 98% reduction in odor. I only wear deoderant on the hottest days, and once I put it on in the morning I don't have to worry about constant 'touch-ups' throughout the day. Looking forward to cooler weather - if the Miradry effects hold up, I shouldn't have to wear any at all!

Thanks for sharing your Miradry expierence. Has there been any changes since your last procedure?
March 22, 2016
No, no changes. I'm still loving the results of my one Miradry. It's been almost a year now, and I'm still so glad I had it done. My sweat has remained at a steady reduction of approximately 70%, and the odor also remains barely noticeable - probably a reduction of about 95%.

Good to hear :)
I just got my first procedure done today. I'm hoping for good results.

Great! I hope it works well for you. I had a Level 5 done too, because I wanted to see if I could get away with only 1 treatment. (Mostly due to my budget!) And so far it looks like 1 treatment was adequate for me.

Do you remember for how long you were swollen? I tried to make it to work today & couldn't due to my underarms being swelled up. I'm taking Ibuprofen 800 every six hours & putting ice packs every hour for 15-20mins.
March 23, 2016
Yeah, I was bad about icing - as in I pretty much DIDN'T - so I was gross and swollen for a good 2 weeks, and then puffy for about 6 weeks. It took about 6-7 weeks all total for my underarms to look completely 'normal' again.

March 23, 2016
Okay, today I woke up less swollen and pits are looking better, Guess that ice is helping lol. Did you sweat at all righ away? I ask because I was sweating under both pits earlier this morning =/
March 24, 2016
I didnt sweat or smell at all until about 3 weeks out. I remember being really bummed lol! But it wasn't much at all- way less than before the procedure.
Congratulations on your results and thank you for sharing with the community.
