I had been contemplating for over 2 years whether or not a tummy tuck for me worked. After the surgery it looked great but I had complications that lead to severe scarring from a vertical incision. After 6-7 months of packing wounds that kept me from even enjoying the very short period of time that my waist and stomach minimized, I started to have a protruding stomach that was so hard it felt like a hernia. Along with a horrible scar from the packing, I felt like I was pregnant in the sense that bending down or reaching my feet was a problem because of the hard knot in my stomach. Doctor did a scar revision and secondary lipo yet still afterwards for months, I stated that my stomach was still very hard and protruding. He stated it was my muscle that was pushing out and really there was nothing he could do. Even though the tummy tuck got rid of access fat, it now makes me feel like I am bloated on a daily basis. The stiching of tyhe stomach muscles made it abnormal and not a realistic stomach. My new belly button turns out instead of in and according to my surgeon, the muscles will never relax and this is what I have to deal with(like...no big deal..it ain't his problem)On top of that, I have gained more weight afterwards due to downtime from the surgery which makes my body look lopsided since the places that they removed the fat do not come back but will come back in other places. This is something the doctors didn't tell you. When I try to do situps, the muscles become so inflammed that they stick out more which makes me look like a [RS bleep] brickhouse. When the nurses felt my stomach, they had a weird look on their face but then tried to compose themselves quickly by saying it was normal. If looking and feeling bloated everyday and feeling like you are pregnant on a daily basis while watching yourself gain small amount of weight around your body is "normal", then I would have rather been fat all around and had my body even at least. I was told that I would never get the results from dieting and that this was the only option. For people that believe it will change them, they are wrong. Even with exercise, they will still have protruding bellies that are as hard as a pregnant womans belly. My doctor made me believe it was like a "Million Situps" solution but he lied and now I am left with pain and a HUGE scar that makes me look like Frankenstein. Even after the revision, it is what I am stuck with. If you are extremely heavy then maybe this would benefit you but if you are about 170lbs looking to feel better about yourself, then just opt for lipo beforehand and see the results. I asked for this and they said it wouldn't do anything but now I believe it would have me happier than this. At least it would have not ruined my stomach muscles and I would have been able to bend over without feeling like I had a rock in my stomach - this look doesn't appeal to swimsuits at all. It makes you look top heavy and now I have to live with the uncomfortable results for the rest of my life.
