I debated whether to write a review on this, but I decided to share my journey to hopefully help others along the way. I've previously had other procedures that I've written about on realself, but my nose was something that I've hated since i was 14. I just learned to live with it over the years and contour it with make up, but i finally said enough was enough and i decided to take the plunge and change it. My sister had her septorhinoplasty first and when her results came out very beautifully I immediately scheduled a consult with the same doctor. I did a virtual consult because I lived a couple hours away. He also recommended an open septorhinoplasty for my nose as well. I wanted a more defined nose bridge, refined nose tip (i hated my bulbous tip) with a subtle supratip break. I also had a small bump on the right side of my nose that bothered me because it would make my nose look crooked in certain lighting.
A couple weeks before the surgery I decided I wanted to try out juvederm for my lips. I already had full lips, but I thought it would be fun to see what they would look like enchanced. I can tolerate needles, but I was terrified of them going near my lips so I asked if they could do it while I was sedated in surgery and they agreed to do it while I was in recovery before waking up.
The day of surgery I arrived at 7am and they had me change into the typical surgery scrubs. I went through my patient history with the nurse. Dr. Nuveen had a fellow and another resident there that morning so I spoke with them first. I didn't mind being a teaching opportunity as long as Dr. Nuveen was the one actually doing my surgery. They took my before pics and I talked with them about my goals, which they then relayed to Dr. Nuveen before I got to meet him in person officially. Dr. Nuveen was really kind. He took the time to explain what they would be doing to achieve my goals. He said that if I did not have enough cartilage to harvest from my septum then they would need to use my ear, which I consented to. He also suggested I do juvederm ultra plus for my lips. He said they would look overdone at first but would settle within a week.
After I got the IV put in and some of the meds I don't remember when I fell asleep. After the procedure was over I was still sedated but I could hear and sort of feel what was going on. So I did feel the needle pricks from the juvederm, but it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. It could also have been because of the pain meds. I woke up with my clothes back on and they helped me into a wheelchair and they took me to my husbands car. Dr. Nuveen does not use packing so they told me to use gauze to blot my nose because I would be bleeding for about a day or 2. Surprisingly my nose didn't hurt and they did not have to use ear cartilage. The most painful part of that day was my lips. They hurt so much I couldn't even drink with a straw and they were so swollen and puffy. He was not lying that I would look crazy!! But they started settling after a couple days and stopped feeling sore by the 2nd day. It also made a huge change to my smile. My smile is usually very hyperactive and I show a lot of my gum line in photos, but the filler really helped. I love my lips so much idk why I didn't try it sooner lol. And btw, the doctor called me while I was on the way home to check and see how I was doing which was so awesome because I didn't expect that at all. (I didn't eat the entire day because my lips were so big and painful)
I go back in at 4 days post op to remove my splint. They didn't require me to go back for my 1 day post op because I was going to come back soon anyway and let me just send pics. So far I have not bruised at all. Idk if it's just my genetics or if he's just really gentle. My sister didn't bruise either. My nose stopped bleeding by the 2nd day and its just been feeling a little drippy, but it's clear mucus. As far as change goes it's very dramatic when I compare the pics side by side and I love it!! I'm nervous to see what my nose will look like after the splint is removed but I'm excited to finally see my new nose and wear make up again.

Day 4 post op

I went to get my splint removed. It was somewhat uncomfortable especially around the nasal tip. They cleaned out my nose with hydrogen peroxide and a q tip and they let me see my nose. It's still very swollen, but I still love it anyway. I had thick nose skin so they had to thin it down to get the nose tip I wanted which it is still swollen and will take the longest to resolve. I can't wait to see it when it heals.

I don't know how to hide my incision since it's still healing and can't put make up on it. But I'm still loving my results and now that the juvederm has settled I absolutely love my lips. They are still the same just enhanced. I think these changes make me look more youthful.
