My implant journey started in 1979, and will end in 3 days with my same PS! Its been over 35 years since my initial silicone implants by a young and very talented doctor. My original implants were removed and replaced with saline in 2003. I only had those in place a few years and started to have trouble with the seam cutting through my skin. In 2007 I had them replaced with the new silicone implants at that time and went a little larger to fill out any loose skin. I believe they are 450 cc's. I have been experiencing some medical issues that are not explainable. For many years I have been experiencing mostly tiredness, joint pain, intestinal problems and now severe pain under my left breast. the pain I am experiencing is when I lay down and the implant presses on something in my chest. Due to the pain which is never relieved when I lay down, I have gone back to my same doctor and had originally scheduled surgery for March 20th. Because the pain is increasing day by day I called my doctor today and rescheduled because they had a cancellation for this Friday, that is in 3 days! I am thrilled beyond belief that these two burdens that I have carried around for 35 years will now be gone. I cannot wait to be natural, I have nothing to prove to anyone anymore and I'm looking forward to being and feeling healthy again. It's been a long time since I have felt really good. I will post photos after the operation and hope and pray that I have good results! My PS is pretty sure I will only need the implants removed so hoping it's a slam dunk!

Hi there! So jealous you have a date (even if it is just for surgery) :) Do you have any hardness in either breast (capsular contracture) as that complicates the procedure somewhat. Also I just want to caution you...even when the capsules are thin and make no mistake your BI's have formed a capsule, leaving them in increases the risk of seroma. There's plenty of discourse on both sides of the capsulectomy debate but as for me one of the other less front/center considerations is better mammogram screenings (strong family hx of breast cancer). I wish I had your laissez faire disposition...my dear husband loves my breasts and would like me to replace my implants instead which leaves me quite concerned about my post appearance but I know I'm making the right choice because it errs on the side of health. I look forward to following your progress...all the best on your fast approaching date!

Thank you dh60 for you best wishes! These dear men in our lives do love breasts..but you have made the right choice. Make no mistake about it, I am worried about my appearance afterwards but as you said it is all about health right now. I will certainly take your suggestion to my doctor about the capsulectomy and talk to him more about it. We did speak at length and he has my permission already to remove them if needed once he gets in there. I trust his opinion on it and know he will have my best interests if need be. All the best to you in your decision too!

I will post pics later next week for sure. Kinda worried about the 'look' afterwards but who wouldn't be. Knowing time will help in getting me back to a natural state is worth the wait. Patience is not one of my virtues! I wish you all the luck in the world in your journey ;-)

Hi Ladies,
It is now 24 hours later and I am doing so good. Consent was given by me prior to surgery that if the capsules needed to come out it was good by me. When I woke up exactly 1 hour and 30 minutes later (I looked at the clock as the anesthesiologist put the IV in) I knew all went well and didn't need capsules out. What a blessing...all prayers answered. I was home by 11:30 A.M. and surgery started after 9. No pain meds but extra strength Tylenol. I slept pretty good and just took a shower. I have the 'dents' on top of my breasts and I anticipated this. Tomorrow I am going to the store to get pads to fill out the dent so that I can wear my comfy sports bra until my skin shrinks some and fluff back. I know this will take many months. Sooooo glad I did this! What I am most surprised about is that I woke up this morning with no lower back pain, that is unusual for me. I'm a happy gal! My follow up is Monday morning. More next week!
