I am an older health care provider. However, I have not reached retirement age. I have another 5 years for that. I was becoming more and more sensitive to questions about when I was planning to retire, I contacted Dr Rich because another physician/friend recommended him. I was very pleased with our intial contact concerning this procedure. He told me exactly what to expect,including the risks vs benefits. I am 1 month post surgery and the results are exactly what he said they would be and I am very happy. I do still have some minor swelling behind my ears .Dr Rich did say that I would have some swelling for up to 3 months after my procedure. I am so happy with my jaw line and my neck. The entire staff was very accomodating and I would certainly recommend Dr Rich to any one considering having plastic surgery. I also have to say that I had had another "mini face" lifts 8 years previously which turned out to be a mini disaster. It was with another physician who had training in the area of facial procedures but was not board certified in plastic surgery. I not only did not achieve the results I was looking for, I had complications which kept me out of work for 2 months. So, in conclusion I highly recommend a board certified plastic surgeon and I definitely recommend Dr Smythe Rich in Columbia SC. He is wonderful

As I stated above, Dr Rich was wonderful. He had offered other alternatives,fillers, which I had done in the past but I was ready for something that didn't just hide the jowls but eliminated them. His nurse took pictures and he showed me with digital technology what I could expect after I had what he calls "the whisper lift". He scheduled a follow up appointment 2 weeks before my surgery and I was given prescriptions to have filled and take the morning of my procedure to relax me.He also included prescriptions for pain control. I was told I would also be given an injection the day of my procedure. I arrived the day of my procedure and it really touched me that he wanted to say a prayer with me before the procedure. I really appreciated that. After the procedure, which went well, he wanted to see me the following am for follow up and to take the bandages off. I was to expect a lot of swelling and there was. I needed to sleep with my head elevated for a while. He also gave me his personal phone number to call him any time I had any concerns. I did call him once during my recovery and he responded right away. I thought I might be getting an infection but as it turned out, I was not. He saw me every day for 3 days after my procedure always reviewing any concerns I had and reminding me he was available by phone 24 hours daily. I then followed up with him weekly for 2 visits and will have a 6 week post surgical appointment in another 2 week. I would very highly recommend Dr Smythe Rich to anyone considering any type of plastic surgery. I am very pleased with my results thus far, I am one month out past surgery and I love the look of my non-jowly jaw line and my more youthful appearing neck. Thanks to Dr Rich's artistic and medical skills, I feel much better about my appearance.
