Like many memberss on here, I was obsessed with having a smaller forehead. I got the procedure done a few years ago and I have been living with regret ever since. Hairline lowering, or scalp advancement causes major shedding and hair loss and its permanent. You should consider this as a potential side effect before considering this surgery. This has happened to quiet a few of his patients and to others who got the procedure, just search for forehead reduction / scalp advancement and hair loss. if I could go back in time, I would have gotten grafts but nothing can be done now. If you think have a big forehead an issue..I can assure that it cannot be compared with the pain of having permanent hair loss. Many doctors will warn AGAINST this procedure, because of this side effect. Hair is separated from it's blood supply during the procedure and it will not grow back.

Thank you for your post. I see your doctor is well experienced in this procedure as he shows up here often. Although 3 years ago, he could have been a newbie at forehead lowering. Do you think it is just the luck of the draw as to who experiences hair loss and who doesn't? Do you think removing less skin reduces risk? How many centimeters or inches did you have removed? Best wishes to you.

Hello. He has been doing this surgery for a while and it happened to a few of his other patients. There's a negative review from a girl in signapore but its buried under the positive ones and it also happened to a guy who performed this surgery on it (his review is under the "not sure" filter. I think its common because if you goggle brow lift (the same technique is used) and hair loss..people have complained about hair loss. It's very serious risk that one must consider no matter how badly they want this surgery. I had 2.5 cm removed, but this is definitely was not worth it.

Hi ConfusedRose, I sent you a message.

Do you have any pics of your hairline?

I don't want to share my pictures but it looks really bad. I can describe it ...theres a scar across my forehead and about two centimeters going back into my head..and hair loss in the area of where the hair was moved forward. If you are familiar with the actor george jefferson, it looks like that.

Thanks. I honestly can't take any reviews (positive or negative) seriously if there aren't any pictures to prove anything- especially since you don't have to show your face in these pics- only your forehead. I do hope things get better for you.

Yes, i definitely understand. I feel the same way...even with pics, i learned not to trust reviews. I hope that things eventually get better for me as well. I'm trying to see if I can somehow get donor hairs removed and implanted to the frontal area, but I am not sure if they will take.

Shock loss is a possibility and well disclosed!! I had my surgery done By Dr kabaker yesterday and we discussed it in length and it's also in the pre paperwork. As with ANY surgery there are risks and genetic factors of hair loss could always come into play. Dr kabaker and his team were OUTSTANDING! I am so happy with how everything went and even if I experience some hair loss (which is much more rare in his patients than other doctors, because of the techniques he has created and taught in universities) it's a risk I am willing to take! I believe most people would rather take that small risk than wear bangs over their 8cm+ forehead for the rest of their life!!! But that's just my opinion :)

Well, I am glad that you had nice results. I was never told that shock loss could occur, but it definitely did with me. I just posted my experience to explain that significant hair loss is a risk that one should consider before getting this surgery. Ultimately, its their choice and their money. If people want to get this done, I understand totally why.
