February 3, 2016 I hairline lowered by 2.6 cm ( so little over an inch). I had always been self conscious about my forehead so I decided to have the procedure after talking to several doctors I decided on Dr. Kabaker. He was very very knowledgeable , super kind and has been performing this procedure for over 20 years.

Hi Subdus,
Honestly I had a great experience. I felt very very little discomfort. So first I scheduled my consultation with Dr.k to determine if I was a good candidate. He had me perform several tests like having me pinch a certain amount of skin between my fingers to determine scalp laxity. He also asked me where I wanted my hairline and if my family had any history of hair loss. I had a FaceTime consultation with dr.k where he answered all of my questions. When I finally made the appt I flew in to Oakland and went right to his office.

In his office I met the nurse and several other people from his amazing staff. When you get there they take your weight height blood pressure etc and explain the procedure in great detail. They also give you medication to ease any pain after surgery. After taking pictures I was asked to draw where I wanted my hairline and what Shape I wanted it to be. At that point dr kabaker came in and sketched out where his incision would be and when he was done he asks if it was to my liking. Keep in mind he is super honest. He will tell you if the result you are seeking is not going to look good, not possible or otherwise problematic. After we agreed on the placement and shape I was told to change and met the nurses in the operating room. They were soooooo sweet. We had a bit of conversation then I was given anesthesia and went to sleep. When I woke up I felt super loopy and dizzy but good overall. I went to the hotel and slept. It never hurt but was alittle uncomfortable figuring out how to lay down and get cozy. I did have my boyfriend there to wake me up to take medication given to us by the nurses. I was given 4 different medications and there are rules to each ...some are to be taken three times a day, some as needed some once a day then there are some that you cannot taken with others so that was a bit much. Day 2 I noticed a lot of swelling. This day was the day of the big reveal. I went to dr.k's office to be seen where they asked how I felt, answered questions and has his nurse remove the bandages to clean my incision. It looked great. The nurse then wrapped me back up since I would be flying back home that day. Unfortunately I did misread my prescription for the anti Bruise medicine and took it once instead of three times a day for the first two days. This led to two swollen and one black eye but again no real discomfort or pain. The top of my head was and still is very numb but the tightness and numbness subside alittle everyday which is GREAT! I had my stitches removed 7 days after the procedure by one of dr Kabaker's former fellows in Beverly Hills. He spoke very very highly of dr k and explained how he pioneered the procedure, taught him everything he knew and has been performing hairline lowering since the 70s. When he removed the stitches and staples I didn't feel a thing which I was very scared of. It's amazing how the incision heals so quickly. I clean it and apply sunscreen and bacitracin daily . I also ensure my hair isn't pulled too tight just to be safe. I will start minoxidil tomorrow to help the little hair that are growing through my scar per dr.k's suggestion since my edges are not as thick as the rest of my hair. Everyday I feel better and better and can do more with my hair as far as styles etc. Dr.Kabaker emails me to check in and see how I am doing ,answers questions and makes suggestions about how I can make the healing process any faster or smoother. He's super sweet a bit, old school ( in a great way) and very knowledgeable I hope this helps Dr.Kabaker is nothing short of amazing.

Oh my God I'm in love with you for all of those details you shared and really from the bottom of my heart good luck and I really wish you would further more beautiful than you imagined for yourself. I'm for sure considering Dr. K. But how long did you have to stay in Oakland from surgery till recovery? Because I live abroad.
February 23, 2016
You're Welcome. I know choosing a doctor can be trying. I only stayed until the following day. So i had my surgery on Wednesday February 3rd ( he only does this procedure on Mondays and Wednesdays) then revisited his office the morning of February 4th for the post op check up and to see the results then i flew home right after. If you go with Dr. K know you are in great hands he is awesome. Best of luck to you :)

Thanx a lot for sharing and replying. And really from the bottom of heart I wish you get all what you have wished for regarding your surgery.

Did you have to pay his fellow in bh to remove your stitches? Or is that apart of your fee? I am from out of town and considering flying home and having stitch removal done there.
February 22, 2016
I did not have to pay his fellow . After he removed my staples and stitches he informed me that it was complimentary so Im not sure how that works. Dr. Kabaker gave him a call prior to my appt. to give him the "run down" on my procedure and to tell him what to look for to ensure things were healing properly. He was very nice and let me know to give him a call if I needed anything

You look great!! It's amazing how this sx gives awesome results (in most and definitely in your case at least), pretty much instantly with quick recovery. Thank you for sharing your story , it's especially helpful since the procedure is fairly rare. Keep us updated, I'm curious about a shock loss phase? I hope you're healing continues to go well!

Hi Redgirl,
Thanks so much! I've been lucky enough to have not experienced any hair loss at all. Everything has been super smooth and I haven't experienced any pain and very little discomfort .

Hey doll! Any updates?

You look amazing!! When could you start blow drying and styling your hair regularly/

I waited alittle over a month. It was torture. However I was completely numb at the crown of my head so the longer you can wait the better to ensure you aren't tugging too much. I hope this helps!

One month post forehead lowering-Dr.Kabaker

LC712
It has been one month since I had my hairline lowering procedure performed by Dr.Kabaker. I'm super happy with my results. The head in the center is still numb but it is getting better Dr K said that that was normal. I also have little hairs starting to sprout through the area where my incision was. I was very nervous about the incision line healing properly and not forming an ugly scar along with hair loss. Luckily I haven't experienced any of that. I hope that this review helps someone :)

Wow You look so great, thank you for sharing ! Really some of the best results I've seen.
Do you have any idea/way to describe how much scalp laxity you had prior ?
March 8, 2016
Thank you so much! Dr.K had me to pinch in the center of my forehead a few centimeters above my eyebrows to see how much skin I could comfortable grasp. I had just enough for a full pinch. Also, he had me to use my index finger to move the same area around, this was to also help him determine laxity. It's kind of hard to explain so I help that this is useful.

Did use any romaine? Or put anything or the incision site after 2 weeks?
May 3, 2016
Rogaine*
May 10, 2016
Romaine? No :) I just applied bacitracin for the first two weeks then after that sunscreen per my doctors instruction as well as minoxidil
May 10, 2016
Also i have a lot of little hairs coming in. Im very surprised because I really didn't use the minoxidil as frequently as I should of I actually don't use it at all now.
