First of all, thank you so much for all of your posts. I am learning a lot from your experiences! I am a Pilates Instructor, I live a very busy life, I own my business and have 3 kids. I breast feed all 3 and I have very small and "empty" breasts. I've been dreaming of an augmentation for over 20 years and the time has come! I am so active that I would like to have small implants: 275-300ccs. I am 5'5, 130 pounds with a "healthy" sized rear end. I'd like my top portion to match my bottom portion! I'd like to go to the beach without feeling like a boy in a bikini. My BA is scheduled for 10/16 and I am nervous. Some days I am excited to get this done, some days I wanna just cancel the whole thing.
I have a question for all you mommies out there. How did you recover with your kids? The one thing that is terrifying to me is that I don't think I can even have a good recovery period because of child rearing...etc....Can anyone offer some advice to me?? I know I have to take it easy, I will try. But I also don't want anyone to know that I am getting this procedure except for my husband and maybe 2 close friends.

Wow, you really are busy! How old are your kids? Many women get BAs with young children. Will your husband be able to help out the first few days? Maybe one of your close friends can relieve your husband for a few hours one day or pick up a few hours after your husband can no longer help. I'm sure it will work out...just have some meals planned ahead of time and some treats for the kids when you're desperate! ;) Feel free to join the October 2015 breast augmentation surgery forum for some pre and post op support!

Hi, I've just had 330cc sub muscular and its day 4 post op. I have a 4 year old and 6 month old. My mum has helped me with the baby as he's not sleeping well but I am healing well so far, I made sure I had food here to make easy meal with not much prep needed, if I lift baby I scoop with my body not my arms. I am still very tired and weak but not in pain. I'm 29, 5.6 height. Hope this helps.

Thank you! Yes! That helps. You are daring to go through this with a 6 month old! Is your 4 yr old pretty active?

My 4 year old is like a kid on batteries! But he's such a good boy and is so understanding. Had my 6 month old with me all day and night, it's been fine, picking him up slowly and using my body weight not chest has been ok, my arms are a little tired but I have nearly full movement. I've been taking arnica too, 2 days before and 5 days after, so tomorrow being my last day taking it, 30c strength plus rubbing the cream on my chest, not near my scars.

I was very similar sized chest to you, and have a curvy figure so wanted to be in proportion and fill my empty chest after breast feeding!

Thank you for your detailed response. Congratulations! Was your surgery on 9/29? Glad you're not in too much pain and that you have some help. Please keep us posted as you continue to heal!

Surgery was 30/9 I'm healing well, off the pain meds now, my stomach is quite swollen, I think it's common with going under muscle plus the meds make you constipated. I do get a bit of a tight chest in the morning when I wake, I'm looking forward to sleeping flat on my side as my neck is hurting from sleeping propped up. I have my first check up tomorrow, will let you know how it goes.

@jade8285, I sent you a PM (private message) on how to start your own review page. We'd love to follow your recovery and hear how your check up goes tomorrow!

Same question as CM, how old are your kids? My children are 10 and 13 so my 10 year old helped me! You'll need help and support for a week probably. Line up support with husband, friends, and family.

They are 10,5, and 2. My 2 yr old is a bit of a mama's boy, so I think that'll be the hardest. I think it'll be manageable for a week. My husband is very very supportive. Thank you!
October 10, 2015
Hi, I just had mine on 9/30 so I am 10 days post op. I have similar stats. I'm 5'5 120 lbs and actively the gym. I also was very small to start 34AA. I had 371cc moderate profile, under the muscle. I have a 2 yr old Son whom I nursed for 17 months so I too was left with deflated and small breasts. I would say that I had a pretty good recovery and pain never went above a 4. However, I needed help with the crib and high chair for the first week. I also would set him up with meals at our family room coffee table for meals when needed. After the first week I was able to manage on my own. Just was careful as I could be. If you have any specific questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'll have to post my before and after pics on here. Good luck. I promise you won't regret it. ☺️

Thank you for sharing! I guess I'm trying to imagine what it would be like for the first week. I have a really destructive 2 yr old! I always find myself on my hands and knees cleaning up after the guy and or picking him up to get him away from the dangerous situations he puts himself in. I don't think I can be alone with him for the first week!
October 11, 2015
I completely understand. I would definitely have someone there with you in case he needs to be picked up or taken away from a situation but you'll be surprised how many other things you will be able to do on your own. Lifting is the main concern. Maybe try to schedule your Hubby and 2 closest friends to be there throughout the first week. The first few days you will def want to rest and heal. I felt great the first day after and then the next couple days I could tell my body needed rest. Today I'm 11 days out. I'm having no issues with pain. You'll be amazed at recovery time. I have a very busy 2 yr old so If you think of anything else, please let me know. You will be so glad you went through with it!:)

Getting Cold Feet!!

User Avatar
boneesha
Has this happened to anyone? 11 days pre-op and I am reading all about botched BAs, and ex plants. Tell me to stop! I'm going down a deep dark hole over here and need to get offline! Also, our nanny is leaving the day after I have surgery to move back to Guatemala. She just told me. Ugh! There are a few bumps in the road, but really, is there ever a perfect time to do this?? Tell me if anyone else out there is having, or had cold feet!

HELLO! I can tell you from my 5 girlfriends who have confided me in their BA, they ALL LOVE THEIR RESULTS. 4 out of 5 went conservative like you. And the 1/5 who went 420 cc loves hers too :) I rethink surgery too, its an elective surgery after all -- so it all seems ridiculous to me......but then when I see how unfeminine my body has become. And I see how I prioritize physical fitness (especially for a mom) -- I value this procedure, and know it will only motivate me to further stay active. You will definitely need help after surgery though. I hope your husband is staying around?? I am running away to hotel, as I shared previously, 3 nights with husband -- then returning to childcare the next morning. But I only have FT childcare for first week, after that it is PT. With a 1 year old, I am looking for some backup for lifting, etc.

You are right...since it is elective, it seems ludicrous what we'll put ourselves through! I'm trying to stay focused on the positive and secure childcare for the week following. I go back to work 5 days after, but nothing physical. I am going to take it very very very easy that week. My husband is extremely supportive and will be helping out a lot. Although, he is going out of town 3 weeks after the surgery. I am hoping I'll be fairly active by then!
October 6, 2015
you are going into surgery really fit and active, my surgeon swears that people of our profile tend to heal and feel great by 3 weeks. She also allows weightlifting, reformer , back to working out at week 3. Obviously she said "listen to your body" but I can tell from the other clients of hers I spoke to -- recovery was NOT as bad as I thought. It is similar to my 2 recent childbirths and getting make into shape, back into activity. WAY faster than I thought it would be. You will be a great recovery candidate!!

Sorry to hear about your nanny! Hoping you can get some post op care for you and the kiddos!  Yes, it's common to get cold feet at this point. Some women go offline while others stick just to their review and RealSelf supporters. See how things go...crossing my fingers everything works out for the best! ;)

I feel the same way! My surgery is in 7 days an I'm starting to freak out. I'm also questions my choice of silicone implants. I'm worried about them from everything I read an I might change my mind an go with saline. Ugh I don't know what to do. I need to call the office again.

I'm getting silicone (Sientra moderate). I have my pre-op today. I'm gonna ask as many questions as I can....but all these horror stories. Not good. But, silicone has come a long way in 15 years. I'll let you know how the pre-op goes!!

So I've calmed down a bit ...lol an I've talked to many who have implants an have silicone. They have definitely come a long way an the gel is cohesive so it all sticks together even if it leaks. It takes a lot for them to rupture. I'm buying the extended warranty which covers 10yrs. I seen an felt a friends silicone implants yesterday an they look an feel amazing.

Are you getting saline?
October 7, 2015
Sorry about your nanny. I think getting cold feet is normal! It is a serious surgery and it's for cosmetic reasons. I'm 3 months post op and had minor issues (stitches and incisions not healing properly). I'm glad I did not go larger...looks more natural, bra shopping gets tricky, and I'm a runner. I did go with saline because I'm not comfortable with silent leaks that are possible with silicone.

Hi again! My husband and I went to my pre-op yesterday and all went pretty well. I didn't pay for the surgery right off the bat because I was having cold feet. After Dr.Togba answered my questions (some what arrogantly though), I felt better. He has been doing this for so long and has really good technique, I think I'll be really happy with the results. His staff, Karen and Melody really made my experience amazing. They were reassuring and comforting. Melody helped me choose a size that made sense for my active lifestyle and the fact I didn't want to look fat in my flowing shirts. I chose 285ccs, low profile Sientra textured implants. I feel really good about this decision! I simply don't want big boobs. Just enough to show off on a bikini and not have to stuff my workout shirts with...my doctor said I won't have to sleep on an incline not take antibiotics. He made it sound like it was gonna be a lot easier healing than I thought it would be. I have a silly question! How long was it before you could pick up a gallon of milk and pour it? I am worried I won't be able to do simple things like that for awhile.

The size sounds great! I agree with the natural approach. My PS is going between 300-325. I just need to really stress the day of surgery what I'm looking for. I don't want to feel uncomfortable around family an friends. I also have kids an my daughter is 2 so I'm worried about the lifting. :-/ the other thing is I feel like all PS office down play the pain. Like they don't want to tell us it's probably gonna hurt really bad. I also think the size you get matters too. The larger you go the more pain an discomfort. But I could be wrong. Can't wait to see your results.

Excited for you. Honestly I have GFS who went back to work 2 days later. Many manyyyyyy GFS told me ITS NOT A HUGE RECOVERY. Some have had 2-3 BAs , so I'm guessing if people want to go through that willingly // recovery can't be too terrible. Of course, everyone's situation is different. But out of 4 GFS , each one said "less recovery difficulty than expected".
