Knuckle Down

WORTH IT
Hello everyone,

It has been a long time since I update my weight lost journey. As of today, I came down 51 pounds since this journey started, from pre op to present. Unfortunately, I have hit a serious plateau and haven't lost any weight in several months. I eat my greens about 5 times a week but I honestly need to drink more water and exercise. My life has been more demanding this year and working out has been difficult but I do watch my food consumption. My colleagues are amazed of the weight lost ,but I am getting focus again to go down another 40 pounds, but will take somer serious work; hitting the gym. But, I see the change in my face and I can't believe that cloths that I bought over 10 years ago, can actually fit. I will tell anyone, just get back on track because after having this surgery you have to recondition your mind to change habits that you have done for many years. For me I am an emotional eater and now I focus that stress on listening to music; really really loud instead of grabbing chocolate bar. But, it is not easy, however it is attainable. Will try to upload pictures .

Down! Down ! Down!

Susan44984
Hi folks, it is almost 1 month since my sleeve and as of today I am 225lbs. I am down 26lbs so far and my goal is to be under 200lb by November. I feel so great, I am fitting cloths that I haven't worn in over 5 years and new cloths that I can finally fit. Although, I have so much cloths with tags that are size M. Since the surgery I have stuck to my protein diet of soft foods and puree foods, but I must confess I just had a chicken wing; not fried and skin removed and I am full. Since starting my soft foods diet on my week 3 & 4 post op; I can't eat scrambled eggs. It doesn't taste the same and I don't digest it well. Also, I had a severe and I mean severe case of constipation. DON'T WANT TO EXPERIENCE THAT AGAIN EVER! I am much better now, getting my water in and staying active; I started hitting the gym last week; nothing to strenuous. I will upload my pictures soon.

I had my surgery a week before yours and yes eggs are the worst...lol. I'm exercising slowly and I'm having a hard time pooping. I'm slowly getting that together, but feel like it should be regular. Im scared to eat, and have stated my chewable multi vitamins. I'm down 33lbs. I'm now 299lbs. Finally out of the 300's!! Congratulations! Welcome to the journey, and i look forward to hearing about your progress. Hopefully, I'll get the nerve to post pictures maybe at my 50 pound mark:)

I forgot to mention that my steristrips came off today, the nurse stated that it was fine. However, I do need to monitor the discharge color and smell.

Hope all is well. I'm scheduled for September 17th!

Great, to hear. Is your procedure scheduled at the same hospital? Everything is going smooth so far; you must stay hydrated. I am constantly sipping on water with liquid vitamins, protein shakes or clear liquid soup. The gas is no joke, I am up at 4:00 am walking up and down my apartment to get this gas out. I just can't sleep with all this gas in my back or chest.

No I'm doing it upstate at the Orange Regional Medical Center. I'm starting to get nervous about the insurance approval part, because I heard some people get denied for different things -fingers crossed- I heard about the gas pain, that has me nervous too, I think I'm nervous about everything right about now lol. I'll be starting the liquid diet on September 2nd, pray for me lol. I'm glad to see you're recovering well. Please keep us updated if you can. I'd like to know the good, the bad and the ugly smh lol. Take Care

Try calling your insurance company and inquire about your co payment. Also, I read my insurance policy and followed my surgical consultant instructions exactly, I didn't miss any appointments, did all my medical clearances. My insurance company was able to verify my deductible for the hospital stay, and it was a covered procedure deemed medically necessary. Also, remember this is viewed as preventive; meaning it is cheaper for insurance companies to pay for this surgery rather than years of obesity health related claims.

Disregard my post from above, I didn't scroll down fat enough to see that you have posted since your surgery. :). Wishing you a speedy and smooth recovery hun! Believe me, the liquid diet goes by really fast and it's much easier to stick to after surgery because you aren't nearly as hungry and you get full very quickly.

Glad your surgery went well and your home recovering. (steristrips off in 4days) That does not appear to be fine. Your wounds are too fresh and they need to remain covered at least two weeks. You most definitely should not have any discharge color or smell. That is alarming and you should make it your business to go see the surgeon asap. Good luck on your journey to a better and new you.

I think you read my post too fast. It is fine if strips come off, monitoring your incisions for signs of infection is the key. Also, I am in healthcare and patients (ALL OF US ) need to understand that nothing is always 100%. That's why I stated you must monitor any open incision areas. I am fine and so is the area around my belly button.

Ok. Take care.
