I regret doing it at NYU. I remained with more problems than those I had before. Looking to get a third surgery for reconstruction of lower jaw and repairing the significant post-surgical malocclusion. Acquired also TMJ problems (condyle is pulled out of its fossa). I cannot chew, TMJ pain and headaches.

what were your goals for the initial surgery? Did insurance pay any of it?

Eduardo De Jesus Rodriguez is supposed to be one of the best. If im not mistaken he may have even done a complete face transplant. Perhaps one should only use a surgeon who strictly does jaw surgery and stay away from doctors that do many different types of surgeries. It seems like a gamble regardless of who you see. I wish you luck on your revision.

Advertising-wise, you might be correct. However, Dr. Rodriguez never told me he is not an oral surgeon. I worked with him since 2012 on my surgical case. Was I misled by him? In 2014 the tragedy happens. I was seriously injured and abandoned. Excuses are useless especially when they come from a "third-party" like you. Also, to be politically correct: Dr. Rodriguez led teams involved in performing face transplant. He did not do it alone. Second, this is not innovation as you suggest; there is more than 2 decades of face transplant that started in India, Turkey, France. I like to remain correct in facts and history of facts.

This surgeon, has two licenses: plastic surgery and maxillofacial surgery. Based on what you are saying, he should definitely drop his maxilloacial/oral surgery license so that he cannot mislead patients. Do you agree??

Am I the 3rd party you are referring to if so when did I make excuses for anyone? Dr Rodriguez is absolutely an oral surgeon "He pursued Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery training at Montefiore Medical Center / Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and completed his residency in 1997" Whether or not he is a competent, compassionate oral surgeon is another story.
Do you really believe a complete facial transplant would involve one doctor? If so that's laughable. Any major surgery like that involves a team of doctors, surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, etc. The one and only point that I was making was, even a doctor/dentist who has tons of credentials and performs various types of surgeries still might not be as good as a surgeon who strictly focuses on jaw surgery. Id rather have a surgeon who is master of one craft than a jack of all trades.

Sorry, but if you were reading that I wrote, I was saying the same as you: in contrast with what this surgeon believes about himself and advertise about him self, he did not do these facial transplants alone. He is just misleading potential patients as he is "la creme de la creme" in maxillo and plastic surgeries. Thanks for your comment.

Hello again. Yes, in picture #8 my jaw is broken during the first surgery with Dr. Rodriguez. In picture #9, he broke my jaw more during the second surgery (see the right side of mandible behind the ear position. Also, during the first surgery, he "forgot in me a metal object- picture #10. He also destroyed my TMJs; on the right side my condyle has been pulled out of the fossa. I will post pictures. My current post-surgeries with this surgeon does not allow me to eat properly, I have limited range of mouth opening (i.e.: a cherry is too big for me to open the mouth for eating it; chronic pain, facial deformity and severe malocclusion). Obviously I look for a surgeon who can fix this mess. Dr. Rodriguez doesn't care; I tried to reason with him but he never answered. I you have more question, please ask.

Although I tried to discuss and reason with Dr. Eduardo Rodriguez the issue of the significant and multiple injuries that I suffered following the surgeries with him, Dr. Rodriguez does not find apropriate to respond to my question and concerns. Not even the fact that I provided him with post-surgeries medical records (from other consultations) and CT images that depict the terrible health situation I am in, did not elicit any response from him, or any sign of care and empathy.

Great, don't let time waste due to the NY statute of limitations. I hope you can be healed and that justice can be served in your case.

You need to talk to an attorney now if your surgery was in 2014. The statute of limitations is very, very short for medical malpractice.
Thanks you for sharing your experience. I hope you find support in the community.
