My Surgery is scheduled in 1.5 weeks. Have been wanting this since I was a teen, now at 39 I am ready! My biggest fear is how my kids will react. They are 1.5 and 3.5. We are telling them I am visiting a cousin in the city for a few days. When I return a few days later with a cast and bruising we will say that I fell and hurt my nose. Any experience with this issue?

did you get it done? how was the outcome?
October 12, 2015
Yup it's done.mi hate to say this but now my wonky eye is really pronounced to me. A whole other body part to obsess over! Cast comes off on Tuesday- fingers crossed... Nose kinda throbs now. I overdid it today with the kids- decorating for Halloween, playing outside, cleaning, organizing!

I just came back to the site today and saw this. Thank you. I was really caught up in the prep work involved in having surgery and making sure the house, kids, husband would be ok while I was gone. :)

Glad the surgery went well, do post pictures. I consulted with pastorek but am still hesitant cauae he showed such few pics of his noses in the office. Nice guy but i dont know what im getting so really thankful for yr posting. Please do post the unveiling pics soon. Im eager to see his work. Also did ur insurance cover anything the 12k seems low for his fees

Hi! I have not had a moment to breath since the "unveiling". Putting kids down now. Will post more in a few.

No insurance coverage. All in I estimate the cost was 15k with anesthesia, medical center, car service, supplies, etc.

Just looked at ur results, u r pretty swollen but i can tell it looks really good!! Now im confused, i was thinking of going with dr. pearlman ....
October 14, 2015
I met with him 2x. In the end I preferred pastoreks aesthetic. I had pearlman send me contact info if prior patients. I asked to see their photos and I found that he was not the choice for me. I would definately ask the same from him.

I think it looks good, yes. I want a conservative result so im looking at it with that point of view. And its just the right amount of change.
You met with pearlman too? Why did u not like his aesthetic? Did he do imaging?
I also met with pastorek twice and the pics i saw in his office werent enough. I want to be able to look at a bigger sampling and analyze the changes, and doing it over pastoreks shoulder in his office isnt enough for me.

I agree about wanting to analyze them. Honestly I thought all three noses were pinched and looked fake. I loved loved the imaging he did of my nose but I didn't believe that it would look like that when all is said and done

Please keep me posted! I'm your age with kids the same age of yours! I feel guilty sometimes for wanting to do this for myself. I think about all the risks, but we have to trust the doctor and hope for the best possible results! Congrats! Can't wait to see more pictures.

Hi! Yes I felt really bad about being away from the kids. I stayed at my parents Tuesday night after kids went to sleep and came home sat afternoon. Told them I was visiting my cousin. While visiting I "fell" and hurt my nose. My 3.5 yr old was upset for a minute then has been fine ever since. My 1.5 yo son looked at me funny, said "nose" then ran off to play. One thing that helped was that my husbands brother came from out of town to stay while I was gone so it was a bit of a novelty while mommy was away.

Thanks! I wouldn't be able to stay anywhere, and would have to come home after surgery. My inlaws would come to help for a week, though. How was the general anesthesia and the first 2 days?
October 12, 2015
I got twilight. Is that the same as general? Duh:). I'm clueless. I felt dizzy and out of it until at least the afternoon following the surgery. the next two days I devoted to icing and resting. As soon as I got home that all stopped and it's been all about the kids. I took an hour nap yesterday and rested for about 30 min today so it's been a bit rough... Can't sleep now of course!

I forgot to ask as i took a real close look at ur before pics and am wondering why you got the nose job. I see nothing wrong with ur before nose ( haha ... Its always ourselves who r the biggest critic) but seriously though!!

Thank you. I always felt it was a bit masculine and wanted a bit more sharpness and femininity to it.

I just done it and I have 3 daughters and I told them the truth. It's a hard situation I understand. but you can always just say you needed to fix your nose so you can breath better, if you don't want them to know it was just for cosmetic reasons.

Day 6
Rosienosey123October 12, 2015
My nose feels really warm for some reason. The stitches are becoming really uncomfortable but tomorrow I get my cast off so I assume the stitches will be removed as well. Feeling worried that I will still be "unattractive" even after my nose is improved. Wondering if this is normal? I see so many imperfections. Maybe it's the swelling of my entire face? Anyway kids are out so I am taking an hour to try to text a bit. I haven't really taken the time to ice my eyes but from what i understand it's not all that helpful atbrhisbdtage. Any tips on diet and how to reduce swelling? I admit to having a Coke Zero here and there after the surgery although dr p said no caffeine for 2 weeks after.

i am worried to go thru with it cauae my nose will become too short or too over projected or too lifted..
How was the surgery experience? I heard pastorek uses twilight in which u r slightly awake. Do u know what was done? Did u get grafts put in, basically what changed did pastorek say he will do, ? I know so many questions but he is coming back on my list.

It was twilight and I remember bits and pieces, especially the "tap tap tap" when they broke my nose. The anesthesia said I would be aware but not care what was happening - this was exactly the case. I think I had some grafting using my septum, narrowing , tip refined. Pretty sure I had everything one would need to obtain a pretty nose:).

It's totally normal to worry about all kinds of stuff from how it will look to any complications. When your cast comes off, you will still be swollen. I am 6 days post op and got my stitches and cast off 4 days post op. Just keep an eye on anything that may look like infection and don't hesitate to go into your doctor even if he thinks you worry too much. All people who have plastic surgery are worried. Don't let anyone tell you you are crazy for that. Keep away from the salty foods if you can because this will cause you to retain water just like caffiene. No alcohol or ciggs either!
Here's a list of pre- and post-op tips for you. At that age I think you could just say "Mom has a boo-boo on her nose" or something? They'll likely not even remember this happening, so you have that going for you. :) Please keep us updated!
