I've just scheduled my surgery and am excited!...

I've just scheduled my surgery and am excited! While I sometimes worry about what others think, I've decided this is my face, and my life. I feel very comfortable with Dr. Kwak. Our first meeting was much longer than I expected. I felt I could ask many questions, and have time to think of additional anxieties I have. I was able to go in for another meeting with further questions. Dr. Kwak seems very calm and drew out how the procedures were to be performed. I am tending toward the second possible outcome, although it is a little more drastic, but I think it is very feminine and pretty. I only want to do this once, so I am pretty sure this will be my decision. Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks so much! I will definitely check out your review!

I bet you are excited to have the cast off! How are you feeling today? It sounds like the first few days are the worst. Btw did you have your procedure in the office or at the hospital? About how long did it take?

I am so excited for cast removal. Only 3.5 more days! I'm feelingok today-my face feels swollen bc it is...the most it's been. My nose is stuffy and I can't really smell or taste. And I'm really tired. But pain is pretty much gone. My procedure was done in his surgical suite and it took about 3 hours. I think it took longer than expected though because my septum was more deviated and fractured than he thought

Interesting! I'm wondering how badly deviated mine is too. The cartilage has kind of caved in especially on one side, and he mentioned placing a sort of stint to open it up. Did you have anything like that? Also, was the packing awful?

Great to know the pain isn't so bad!

I have spreader grafts, not sure if that's different than a stint. He said spreader grafts are grafts from the septum to stabilize the septum. Packing sucked but wasn't that bad at all. Manageable

Chin

herewwwegggo
I've been going back and forth about chin size desired. I've read a lot of reviews of chin implants that aren't good. I wonder if the larger the implant the more possibility for it to shift out of place? That would be a bummer. Hard not to worry about all these little things! My pre-op is March 1st, so I'll have to write all these questions down!

Hey!!! How'd it go today??
March 2, 2017
Really well! I really like Dr Kwak- it really calmed me down to go over specifics and goals. I'm ready now! Wish it were happening already tomorrow! Excited!!

Btw after meeting again with Dr Kwak, he said he would probably be using a medium implant. This made me feel more comfortable about this point.

Don't get the chin implant. I absolutely hate mine and wish I didn't get it. Afraid to take it out because of potential for stretched skin. I also got a medium implant.

A little late there! Haha it's already been six weeks and I'm very happy with the outcome. I've read the skin goes back to normal after removing chin implants. Do what you and your doctor think is best. Good luck!

Pre-op

herewwwegggo
Had my pre-op with Dr Kwak today, and it went really well! We went over all the details and what to expect on the day of surgery and during recovery. I think I've learned a lot from all the reviews I've read on this site, which is really helpful!
Overall I am feeling excited and nervous! Dr Kwak has a very calming nature, and everyone in the office is very sweet.
So next I have to get the blood work, EKG, and get my prescriptions.
Just a few weeks left and I'm thinking maybe I'll get a few more pillows and another humidifier :-)
All I'm really concerned with now is how I will be feeling the few days after. Also, I'm thinking of having a haircut before to offset the changes a bit. Has anyone else done this?
Thanks again for all of you posting and putting updates- it is really so nice:-)

I felt more calm and excited after my pre-op as well. Exciting stuff!!! Cant wait to follow your journey! Oh! I know it is common to change hair color, hair style to detract attention from surgery. you definitely aren't the first!

I never thought about getting a haircut or anything! Interesting. All I know is i washed my hair the day of surgery bc honestly I did not feel like showering or washing my hair for nearly the entire week after surgery. Gross, i know, but true. I didn't feel bad or anything just tired and logey (logie? i dont know how to spell it). Plus i wasn't stepping foot outside the house for a couple days lol so I had no one to impress
