A little over 6 years ago, I began my search for a surgeon to perform my abdominoplasty--otherwise known as a tummy tuck. After finally winning my life long battle with weight, I had lost 130 pounds and I was left with excess skin in all the wrong places.
I live in Manhattan and have always been knowledgable as to who are considered to be the top physicians in their respective fields. As I began my "research," the name Dr. Z. Paul Lorenc kept coming up as a surgeon that I had to meet.
By the time I went for my first consultatioin with Dr. Lorenc, I had already met 3 other Park Avenue plastic surgeons and while they all had top credentials, I just never felt quite right. I sensed I would only be a number and that the whole process would be somewhat impersonal. After 5 minutes at Dr. Lorenc's office, I knew I had found the one. His offices are beautiful, immaculate and staffed by a group of super sharp and personable women...all under the supervision of Lorraine Russo who runs the practice.
It is extremely intimidating to literally bare your most vulnerable self to a virtual stranger but Dr. Lorenc and his nurses made the experience easy. I explained that I wanted to get rid of the excess skin and residual stretch marks from my weight loss and Dr. Lorenc spent a full hour with me discussing my options, explaining the abdominoplasty procedure and answering my endless stream of questions. At no point did I feel that I was being rushed so that he could move on to his next patient. After my consulation, I sat down with Lorraine and I knew I was ready to book my appointment.
Lorraine has run Dr. Lorenc's practice for over 20 years and she is an invaluable expert on every procedure. She is honest and strightforward about what to expect as far as recovery and post-operative pain and there is never a push to sign you up for more than what you need.
When it was explained that despite the extensive nature of the preocedure I would still be able to avoid a hospital stay and instead be at the incredible surgical suites at his office, I was thrilled. The facilities are state of the art and Dr. Lorenc works with a brilliant anaesthesiologist that has been at his side for many years. He has also worked along side a staff of wonderful O.R. nurses and they function as a gifted team. It was amazing to find out that I would not have to be completely out for the surgery but instead would be under a lighter form of sedation and epidural which would allow me to literally walk out of his office following my surgery--albeit a bit hunched over and drugged up.
Lorriane and the staff were in touch with me regularly before and my surgery date and at no point did I ever feel as though I were just a number. The treatment I received there was like no other medical experience I have ever had.
Needless to say, my tummy tuck was a huge success and a life changing event. Despite some discomfort for the week following, the results were amazing and I continued to appreciate the beautiful job that he did as the months passed. It only gets better and better. I have had 2 children since then and my stomach is still as flat as a board.
Since my tummy tuck 6 years ago, I have remained close to Dr. Lorenc, Lorraine and their staff. I have returned for several other procedures associated with my weight loss including a breast lift, an arm lift and liposuction under my chin and jaw line. Oh, and did I mention Botox, Restalyn and various, awesome, skin tightening and non-invasive laser procedures. All the results are natural and subtle yet have dramatically changed the way I experience life.
I have always lived my life by following my instincts and the moment that I eneterd Paul Lorenc's office, I knew I had stumbled across something different in the world of Park Avenue surgeons.---a brilliant surgeon that is compassionate, patient and able to produce dramatic results while keeping in mind a conservative aesthetic.
