Microneedling Disaster

Over 3 years of pain

Here is my update. I haven’t had any luck resolving my scarring, laxity and pigment issues. My skin is an organized mess.I don’t think there are words to describe the emotional pain this has caused and relentless amount of energy trying to find a solution. If there is anyone who had any success, I would love to know your story. I’m now considering a mini facelift and trying to find an experienced professional in Au who specializes in nano fat grafting. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

can you please tell us the name of the doctor who did this? I'm sorry I can't seem to find it on these threads. So sorry for your frustrating experience.
It was a clinic . Clearskincare in Cronulla
Kala dont know if you will see this but i did go for a mini face lift here in FL, and it was the easiest thing i had done (and i have had many things done ) my Dr additionally, my suggestion, a FL vacation and see my Doctor, Dr. Fasano in Stuart FL, it was also amazingly affordable, he does not put you completely under, so there is actually less risk, and it was painless, it amazed me. my cost at that time (3 years ago ) was $5700 that was it, and it is worth way more than that
Hi , I had a bad experience too with micro needling. I’ve had some success with very gentle peels followed buy omnilux light therapy. I don’t think my skin will ever be the same but the light therapy definitely helped. I used alternating red and white lights. I need to get back into doing them again because I think they definitely helped heal my skin. Keep up with your updates , would love to know how the fat grafting goes - I lost a lot of fat and elasticity too . All the best x
Hi MillieBB, Thank you for your response and I'm so sorry to hear you have also been experiencing terrible side effects from this procedure. I have previously done light therapy. I must admit it didn't do much for me. Gentle peels can help but are also temporary. I would do absolutely anything to get some significant improvement. I will keep this thread going as I search for an improvement.
I wish you all the best Millie x
Hi Kaji, I am finally having some laser. next week. My scars were from Fractora. My dermatologist thinks I will need at least 6 treatments to make any difference. I will have to address the laxity with fat transfers.I will let you know how it goes. My heart goes out to you. You have been an inspiration to all us.
Thank you for your kind message and good luck with everything . I keep my fingers crossed for you. Please keep us posted x
I haven't had any luck either, gave up
Hi Kaja, a few questions for you: do you no longer experience facial sweating? Does your face sweat when exercising, in hot weather, etc? Have you ever made any dietary changes to bring down inflammation?

Nearly March 2020

Hello everyone,
I have decided to update you all as I haven’t been able to respond to everyone that’s asked me how I’m going in the past few months. As you all know it’s a difficult journey and for that reason I have tried protecting myself from falling into the black hole again. The most questions I get are :
Has your skin improved?
Yes, the redness is not as bad . I used to experience tightness - that’s now gone . I had a severely damaged skin barrier after the procedure with overwhelmingly dry skin - it is now so much better!
Unfortunately, my skin has developed chronic inflammation which is hard to shift. I have inconsistent colour throughout my skin, some discolouration, redness and so on. No make up is no longer an option.
Volume loss and elasticity issues are there - fillers do help but I’m still thinking about fat transfer or facelift. My main aim has been to get my skin back to functioning at least in order to progress to other treatments .
Scarring and track marks are less visible but still there. Eventually scarring flattens and becomes less obvious especially in different lights. My skin had permanently changed sadly and it causes me a lot of anxiety and self- insecurities but I have to keep going and will not stop searching for solutions until I get my face back to more presentable appearance.
I know how hard this journey is for all of you and I apologise for not responding . For now, I will continue updating my review every few months .
Love to you all

I think the same has happened to me... I am distraught and angry I feel for this gimmick in the first place. My skin was just fine before.
thank you for your posting, my dermatologist has been trying to talk me into this, i have apparently scars from the lumps i got after a plastic surgeon put filler in my acne scars, it lumped and he just kept telling me to massage it, now it has scarred me. They all tell me "you dont look that bad"..but i am out of money and , not looking that bad wasnt my goal, my goal was to look better
Omg I’m so sorry Sylvia. I was severely botched with injectables. It is hyaluronic acid but it does not go away with the dissolver. Only my own fat from morpheus in the cheeks melted not the filler and I have lumps and tyndal. Do not let anyone talk you into microneedling rf to smooth the scar and fuller. It destroys the fat.
thanks wow i need all the fat in my face i can get, i had the fat filler done but i got sick for a week and lost it all, too bad its the best i had ever looked, it pushed my skin out and made my acne scars disappear,,, wish it would have taken better
Sometimes you need to redo it and it will stick around. I think after 6 weeks you see the real result. How long did yours stay? I have a consult for fat grafting next week (and filler removal) Better than filler. No water retention. Yes Rf destroyed my Cheeks. Good thing u didn’t do it.
i had the fat filler done 2 years ago, so i guess its just not coming back. I did get restalynde in cheek bones and that worked really well , i only got one syringe, two would have been better but it was still pretty good
Did you find that fillers work as well as fat? The drs told me I need two syringes to get my cheeks back, but ha also causes water retention. So I am deciding once I get rid of botched filler from the same physician who did the morpheus.
Hey I read your post re dissolving filler, I tried 7 vials and my face is a mushy mess then convinced to get more fillers now I’m looking at facelift but don’t want more dissolving/ I’m only 32. Did you get a facelift? I’m looking at booking next month
I also did morpheus hifu co2 etc etc and had fat loss such a nightmare
How did you combat the severe dryness?
it's called aging. everyone has the same issues.
No they do not. This is not aging, this happens immediately after this procedure and does not go away.
Troll go away
Why bother with ignorant comments like that. I agree with the person above... get lost!! When a person is damaged over night it is not normal aging. I don't know whyI even wasted my time responding to you
Hi Kaja, Good to hear from you,if you find anyone in Australia that is an expert in fat transfer please let me know!.I really need it as it’s been 5 years since my laser disaster and fat transfer and a face lift are really my only option now!.Its hard to find someone here that specialises in faces. Chris
So sorry, I know what you are going thru, Your face is like mine now. Heard so many good things, but so wrong, wish I had never done this to my face. If you find something that helps please post. Good luck.
Hi Chris, I highly recommend dr. Nettle. He is amazing with over 25 years of experience and amazing reviews. I have already got a quote from him which is quite outrageous but I guess you do pay for the experience and a skilful pair of hands. I'm so anxious about any further damage and hope I can slowly bring myself to make a decision soon!
I wish you all the best dwill081. I hope your face continues to heal x

Hello everyone,
I would love to know if anyone out there who had a similar damage from microneedling managed to fully recover? My skin has improved a little bit but I’m still to this point dealing with scarring, track marks, needle marks, sensitivity and volume loss. This has been a total nightmare! I would do anything for someone to give me some answers please. I’m also struggling with random tightness / warmth in my face that’s triggered by a number of things such is certain food, heat, alcohol and etc.
I would love to hear from you all

Hi, mine was damaged from microneedling and is finally starting to come right now. I had fillers in my cheek to help with pores and fine lines. Other than that I worked on barrier repair and removed all actives. Adopted an extremely healthy diet (sugar free, low GI, lots of veggies). Bone broth, omegas, zinc, probiotics. Lots of sleep. The thing that made the biggest difference was removing products which are active (e.g. vitamin C, retinol) and using a very thick layer of fatty cream at night. I would suggestions getting a biopsy done with a derm to check there is no infection or necrotising granulomas. That can inhibit healing. If it helps I honestly think you look beautiful in your photos, it seems to have recovered a lot and no one would be looking at your skin with the same scrutiny as you. A hug.
Hi craftychick. How is your face now? Mines is a mess after needling. I have volume loss so bad my face looks flat and My pores look like holes Now and all go into lines now it’s horrible. Did fillers sort this for you? Have you came across anything else that helped this issue. I also have loads of long lines that run down the side of my face when I smile, holes all over, pitting on my cheeks. My eyes look hollow now and the skin under them is so loose. Do you have anymore advice as I see it’s been over a year since you posted. Thanks you
By the way I used Dermaviduals products. A custom barrier repair moisturiser and at night Oleogel.
hi craftychick can you tell me what a custom barrier repair moisturizer is? Is that something you formed yourself? Actives seem to make my face much worse too and I need something to take my make up off that I use to help cover scarring. I cant find something to wash my face with or moisturize that doesn't bother me. Have you ever tried Johoba oil and did it work for you? Thanks for your time. Kaja Your skin is looking better. I wish mine looked like yours. I'm thinking of flying to Austrailia to see Dr Lim or Dr Rullan in CA. I was just tried by another Dr in CA and he made it worse!
Hi, Dermaviduals is a product you cannot buy over the counter, you have to go to a clinic to purchase it. My aesthetician took the Dermaviduals base cream and added barrier repairing ingredients to the cream, nothing too active. The base creams are designed to be customised to every person.
Is Dr Rullan a good doctor for these cases? Please let me know
I live in California please let me know if I should go to Dr. Rullan
Thank you guys. I've recently had some fillers done to address my bottom face. Things are looking better but I'm desperate to find something to fix this nightmare permanently. All your advice is much appreciated x
Sweetie, go to a dermatologist and get a biopsy done. Go to one who specialises in allergic reactions. You might be suffering from granulomatous dermatitis delaying your healing. Insist on a biopsy. I can't post links here but there is an article on the blog barefacedtruth about this (written by doctors specialising in microneedling). Also have a look at thenakedchemist article on microneedling.
