I had a lower facelift and neck lift on Oct 10, 2017. I really bruised on one side and have a small lump on my jawline under my ear. I’m about 2 weeks post op but it seems to be taking forever for the swelling and tightness to resolve itself. Will my neck ever feel normal again. The tightness really bugs me. I’m 70 and just wondering if it was worth the aggravation it’s causing.

Large pores

So I’m one month post op and now I’m noticing my chin has large pores which I find taking away from the improvements made by my lower facelift. What treatment helps diminish large pores? I guess you always notice the imperfections!

I think you look marvelous and I can't help thinking - what age is it that women ever look old these days? Regarding the large pores, SKINN products have quality products for large pores - If you can't get old of those products just shop around and you'll find something that you'll be happy with. Large pores are quite common so there's a lot out there to help.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m trying to be patient with the annoying numb feeling and neck tightness. It’s still early I’m told to expect too much ...still healing I guess.

Mederma, for scars, works for enlarged pores because they are really scars. However, it takes 4-6 months to see results, and it probably won't eliminate them completely. It did help me. A chemical peel will help, but leave you red and peeling for a week to 10 days.

Getting an IPL (photofacial laser) treatment helps minimize pores. Otherwise, I would suggest finding a good cleanser for large pores and buying a Clarisonic to use daily or twice daily. Clarisonic has specific brushes and cleansers for this purpose.

Still waiting for the soreness round the back of my ears to feel better.

My neck lift and lower lift was 10/10/17. The numbness beside my ears still bothers me and I still feel swollen in my neck area under my ears. Anyway not much relieves it. I keep using arnica cream but that’s not doing much. I’ve heard some people get cortisone shots. Does that help eliminate swelling? I still feel uncomfortable with where my healing is at. Anyone have any advice?

Sorry you are healing slower than expected. I haven’t had the lift but I did my eyes and it took a longggg time for them to settle down. But you look fabulous!!! I would never ever guess you are 70!!! Have you tried the lymphatic massage?? I think you can do it yourself, especially 2 months out from surgery. Or go to a pro and ask for lymphatic drainage massage, I think that’s what it’s called. It encourages the fluid to go down. Keep us posted!! Many of us are scheduled for early 2018 and we too want to know if it’s worth the aggravation!! Lol!! Again, you look beautiful!!!

I've written to you before right after your surgery.....the numbness may never go away but it does get more tolerable. I'm almost a year post op from my revision and my right neck still hurts to the touch and my right ear is almost completely numb. The spots that aren't numb kinda hurt and if I scratch my ear, I feel it in my cheek...weird sensation. Sensation changes are not unusual. As far as swelling, expect it for 6 months especially if you eat too much salt. I had a tummy tuck and still had swelling 3 years later. Eventually these issues become minor or you don't notice them at all. Anytime your skin is cut there is always a chance of sensation changes. When you consider what you had done...there's a lot of nerves in the face and neck that were disrupted, it's just part of the healing process. It takes a long time to heal from this and may take up to 3 years for your nerves to regenerate to their final state. Don't be discouraged. We mostly all go thru the same thing. The only advice I can give is be patient. The swelling will go away. Arnica won't help, but drink lots of water and avoid alcohol as that does seem to make it worse. You're only 2 months post op.......you are just beginning the healing process. Don't worry...you look gorgeous. It will be worth it in the end. ❤️ Linda

I had a neck lift /partial face lift in Oct. 2015 and I still feel a tightness under my chin ... however i'm really not that aware of it so much any more. Guess I'm getting used to the sensation. Anyway i don't feel the numbness i used to feel behind/around my ears/ earlobes now. That area's pretty much gone back to normal. It does get better with time but as long as you had a good outcome then the numbness/tightness is a small price to pay.

It takes quite some time from any Surgery numbness to leave. Even in others areas but feeling does come back slowly. It may be months upon months. Other than that, are you happy with the results ?

Besides the arnica cream, you can take homeopathic pill form of arnica. In addition to that, using arnica along with the bromelain enzyme can really help reduce swelling.

DON'T DO CORTISONE AS IT THINS THE SKIN AND IT WILL BE WORSE. SWELLING WILL TAKE AT LEAST A YEAR WITH LUMPS AND BUMPS SOME DAYS THERE WILL BE NO SWELLING AND THEN LUMPY THE NEXT. I HAVE HAD A NECK LIFT THREE MONTHS AGO AND IT IS STILL LUMPY BUT I WAS TOLD BY FIVE PS THAT IS NORMAL. PATIENCE I AM 74
