Worst Decision Ever
I had NovaThreads inserted into my upper lip boarder before having lip filler. The nurse injector I saw for filler recommended the threads prior to filler due to my natural lips being so fine. She had said that the threads would help give a crisp boarder and give my lips structure so the filler wouldn’t migrate outside my lips. The threads were presented as a great treatment option that essentially had no downside to them. Seemed to be too good to be true in hindsight. (I should add that this was my first time having filler or any other procedure on my face and the injector I saw came highly recommended by friends that had great results with her.) The placement of the threads was painful and on one side the nurse struggled to place the thread results in tugging for a few minutes. After they were placed I experienced pain and zingers for several weeks. After 2 months I noticed that I had a raised ridge above my lip boarder where the threads were placed. It looked ridiculous. I wended up getting a second opinion from a plastic surgeon and found that the threads were placed wrong above my lip boarder giving the skin a lift instead of the lip boarder. Unfortunately there wasn’t any great option to remedy this issue as removing the threads would not be easy nor did they recommend trying due to the complications that likely would be worse than the results I already had. They recommended using filler to try to minimize the threads and just wait out the threads dissolving on their own. While my lip shape looks amazing with the filler from the plastic surgeon, I still have the strange looking raised skin above my lip that gives the appearance of a protruding top lip. At this point I am done trying to fix this issue as I am worried that it will just look worse. I just hope that I am one of the people that the threads dissolve quickly for and I don’t have any lasting results. I completely regret having the threads and would not recommend anyone get them. The more I research about them the more I hear of others having bad experiences as well. Do yourself a favor and stay clear from these threads!
