So, after many years of deliberating I've finally decided to proceed with the surgery. I'm currently a 34HH/J and hoping to end up a 34DD.
What are your recommendations for a stress free, straightforward recovery? I've got to cram in a house move, job change and looking after a 3 year old in the mix as well - so I've got to recovery well and quickly.
I'd appreciate anyone's advice on how to prepare myself for surgery, and how to look after myself afterwards. I understand I'm taking a lot on all at once, but I've been waiting for a surgery date for over a year - I don't want to postpone it now.

UPDATED FROM norks
8 days pre
Pre-op tomorrow
norksApril 8, 2018
I have my pre-op tomorrow, with a surgery date for the week after. I hope everything goes to plan and I can get this over and done with - I just want to get on with recovering and getting back to normality.
I've put weight on since I last saw my surgeon, I hope it's not a 'show-stopper'. He said I was an ideal candidate when I saw him - whether I am skinny or chunky - the boobs still stay the same!!
Any last minute advice for a this Scaredy Cat who wants to join the Tiny [RS bleep] Club?

I have put on weight too! I think its my nerves! Im overeating and not sleeping. Recently I have found that I have to sleep sitting upright. If I lay down both of my arms go numb. :( I can't wait to get this weight off my chest! 3 more days! I went shopping for button up shirts today and realized just how bad I have let myself go. Im telling myself to just get this done, and when I heal I will feel so much better and then I can do something with the rest of myself! I am a lil fearful on recovery, but my surgeon was good at easing my mind. He acts like I can go back to work in a week. I took off 2weeks for good measure. I really hope this pain and numbness does go away after all of this.

The most important thing is REST...do very little for the first week. Drink lots of water and other fluids and fiber rich foods to get things moving, (remember your system will be sluggish for a while after anesthesia and pain meds). Ask your doc about using cold packs-some don't recommend them but my doc told me I could use them but stay away from the nipple-they helped a lot with the swelling and discomfort. No lifting, bending over, stretching etc. Remember even when the outer incisions have closed that there's a lot of tissue healing to go on internally, so if you overdo it you can give yourself setbacks in your healing. Just use good sense and take care of yourself and you should be fine!

Thank you so much for the advice.
I must be very strict with myself to ensure I don’t overdo it.
I hadn’t thought of cold packs to help with the swelling, that’s a very good idea.
We have so much going on with an impending house move and my 3yr old being an average 3yr old. I’ve packed all I can for the move and will be paying for a full packing service on the rest. My partner will be looking after our little boy so hopefully I’ll be able to get some quality recuperation time in the first couple of weeks.
Thanks again for your comments, it’s all very helpful.

Yes I learned the hard way actually-I felt so good after the first few days that I started doing more than I should have been-not super heavy stuff but just light housework, watering plants outside etc. It was hard because I would get bored when my husband was at work and I would see all these things that needed to be done and it was nice outside...and then I went for a recheck and my doc said I had fluid (seroma) which she then aspirated with a big long needle (yuck!). It wasn't super serious but even that can slow down the healing a bit-better to be safe than sorry. If your son needs mommy time just have him snuggle up next to you on the couch and watch a movie or something. Keep a pillow or thick blanket over your chest to avoid bumps! (I don't have kids but I did this to keep my cats from pawing/walking/jumping on me!)

Oh my goodness! That sounds painful. I’ll be extra careful to take it easy. We have extra daycare sessions booked in so I can rest in the day and catch up on my Netflix viewing.
I do have a cat and he will be happy to spend time with me - I’ll make sure I have a blanket close by to protect me, he likes to claw me.
It still doesn’t feel real and I can’t imagine how the doctor will make me smaller, so exciting times next week.
Thanks again for your kind words, it’s so helpful to hear the experiences of others.
Have a lovely weekend. X

Well the seroma wasn't painful, and she did inject me with some novocaine before the draining needle went in, but still, best to avoid if possible! I have one kitty who likes to come up and give me what my husband calls her "breast exam" i.e. kneading her paws on my chest lol!! But actually my cats were really good about avoiding my sensitive areas during recovery-they always seem to know those things! I have heard other moms on here say they've gotten elbowed by their kiddos so watch out for that! I found myself walking around a bit hunched up the first week or two as I felt I had to protect myself from anything I might bump into-I had to keep reminding myself to breathe and drop my shoulders back. Sounds like you have all your plans in place though, so you should be fine!! I will look forward to seeing your updates!

I'm going to stay rest is very important but at the same time you want to eat lots of protein because protein helps healing and you will heal fast if your surgeon uses glue you were definitely heal a lot faster
Did you have your BR? I don't check in on the site as much as I should do. I'd love to know how you got on.
I have my pre-op tomorrow and I can feel the nerves beginning to kick in.
Hope you are recovering well and loving your new lease of life.
