2 week post-op Dr meeting!

WORTH IT$10,356
So, I saw Dr Pincock for the first time today post-operation (apart from straight after the surgery)! Amazing doctor, human being and just genuinely a master at what he does - although I am ridiculously happy with my nose even @ the 2 week mark, he was reminding me that as the tiny bit of swelling that remains, will go down and that "If I'm happy now, i will be extremely happy soon!" (Which I can understand as he visually demonstrated and talked me through where the tiny bit of remaining swelling currently is etc.!) CHECK OUT MY QUARTER TURN SIDE TURN - no more hugeee nose @ that angle (so so grateful!)

For what it's worth, since your comment is something that, personally, does not reflect my experience nor opinion of him at all, here's a little update, 4 years on etc.

He actually did an amazing job. I've had no issues, have gotten much much better sleep ever since, and my wife has not heard me snore since (where as prior to the surgery, she'd be woken up by it). I don't feel self-conscious staying at a friends place or travelling (although of course, this has not been something I've done much of, 2020 onwards anyway).

I also don't wake up and realise 'my fitbit states I barely got any deep sleep, due to all the tossing and turning' anymore. Loving the results, years after.

In case you're confused, and again this is just based on news articles - the one I recently heard about who 'did it for the money' was Dr Mooney, who was caught with drugs in his system, reprimanded and also has (from memory) a lawsuit or charges (unsure if proven or not yet) against him for doing a botched surgery which not only resulted in someone's death, but two other deaths indirectly, as the poor patient's sister and mother also ended up taking their lives in the hospital car park due to the shock and grief from the loss of their son/ brother.

Regardless, from my personal experience, although I had big issues getting a rebate and/ or getting in touch with Dr Pincock's staff after it all (only to realise months later that he had closed..), I cannot fault the surgery itself nor the after care.

Rebate would've been nice, but I'm ok with not being reimbursed as it means more money 'technically', in the medical system/ pool, for someone else's costs to be covered - but a headsup or clarification would have been nice for sure.

I am so sorry to hear. Is everything ok? If you feel more comfortable in boxing me, I actually would be very interested and genuinely concerned in regards to your experience :( If you may be wondering why I ask, it's because I guess I'd rather know of any potential issues and others' experiences asap, in case I have to keep an eye out for some sort of (I don't know) issue arising in the future? I mean, putting it simply, I sleep on my face and even though I haven't had any issues yet, I can see how that doesn't guarantee I may not have any in the future (e.g. over a decade or so).

In regards to that newspaper article, I agree it was the wrong move, but to be honest with you, based on me reading that article and others, about that incident, including the reprimand, his response (the whole thing), I came to this conclusion.

He said he made sure that she was stable/ stabilised before obviously going ahead with any incisions, but in his mind, someone who has been contemplating the surgery for years and possibly decades, may have a life changing experience (positively so, like I did) AFTER IT...but if he didn't operate on her then and there, he feared she'd never have the courage to ever consider or go through it again.

Also, the fact that (forgive me if my memory is wrong or off, correct me please if it is) she actually never complained nor had any problems with the actual final result, in terms of the nose surgery, meant in a way, it worked out.

Now, sure, 99% of people can argue he made the wrong call and that her life is more important than the surgery - this in my opinion, although it's obvious seeming now, if she was under anaesthetia anyway for hours, and stabilised, given he does this surgery for a living, for him it wouldn't have been 'as big of a deal'.

To put it in perspective, 2 years ago I couldn't drill a hole in a wall or stud without getting nervous due to zero experience. I know cut up drywall, timber, use a table and track saw like second nature.

So in his defence, he was technically ensuring that since, in his eyes/ based on his belief and conversation with her that, she 'really hated her nose' he just wanted to make sure she got it done then and having had the surgery myself, it is life changing and 'not' having it, can really affect your life (in my case it def would've).

Again, he messed up, but I don't think, in that case, the reason for messing up was malicious/ negligent in its nature.

I am interested to hear if someone else had any issues, including yourself mate. Any heads up, would be much appreciated Luka22.

Almost 2 week mark! Really happy

So as you can see, swelling gone down QUITE a bit in the last 1-3 days! The nose and tip are finally starting to show their shape as swelling goes down, but overall nose is just slightly swollen making it to look maybe 5-10% bigger than it's 'final form' ideally :) But, as I said, I'm extremely happy with even this so it's all just a bonus from here on out in comparison to my old nose! Breathing is not a thinking process nor requires me to think/ feel like 'must use my mouth' and it's much more seamless - so happy

Also! Forgot to mention the happiest and added bonus part for me - I no longer have to keep a beard just to feel like my nose is 'not as noticeable' or be self conscious about it standing out when I have very little facial hair/ clean shaven (like in the most recent pics!) LOVING THAT! Dr Pincock changed my life :)
