By age 11 my size passed C. On our first bra...
WORTH IT$6,200
By age 11 my size passed C. On our first bra shopping trip, my Mom did not believe me when she handed me tiny training bras to try on, and I showed her the 34C I needed instead. I had already grown bigger at 11 than Mom and older sister ever got, so no more hand-me-downs. Junior high was humiliating as I still grew, as the boys teased and stared and rudely commented, so I learned to dress to hide, cover as much as possible. As an adult, DD was OK, I did not mind if I kept my weight down and always wore concealing looser clothing. I was fine being busty in my 20s and 30s. But menopause and 40s got my back aching and my bust size to more than DDD.
Triple Ds just weigh down my spine as I am only 5 foot tall. So three years ago my good Orthopeadic doctor prescribed months of Physical Therapy for my back, MRI and epidural spinal injections of cortasterol (sp) which were excruciatingly painful. That temporary relief lasted about a year, now my back hurts all the time again and I awake with numb hands. My right leg has partial numbness from spinal pressure.
My OB/GYN suggested the idea of BR to me 7 years ago, and I had given it a lot of thought and study. A year ago a friend had her BR and I saw how happy she was with her PS, so I met with him for first consultation June 11,2014. He measured my nips at 14" below shoulder way down at the bottom of the breasts, and 11" or above is optimal generally. So he measured, took photos, and his staff sent off info to my insurance. I got an updated mammogram, all normal. My insurance mailed the approval letter in two months that they would pay as "medical necessity". My surgery is schedule at local hospital on Sept. 4 2014, with no overnight stay.
Since that is two weeks from yesterday, no more aspirin, ibuprophen, or vitamin E, as they are blood thinners. No alcohol since yesterday either. So now I am preparing supplies for recovery, and hoping for the best. More to follow.

Size B would be lovely, musing about size, 10 days out from Smallness
Instead of looking at recovery pics, which were freaking me out due to the frankenstiches, I looked at a few "afters". I got the impression that a lot of final sizes are D or C cup. They still seem large to me. At just 5 feet tall, I think B would be better for me, maybe a small C or full B. Of course the PS cannot guarantee final size, but I just can't justify going through all that healing and pain and still having to struggle with underwire bras. I have never had perky. Is perky too much to ask for? Can my F go down to B even? The PS would have to take 2/3rds I think.
I remember when I was 11 and my teen older sister was talking about whether one could get away without support in the 'bra-burning' days of the 1960s. She said if you could keep a pencil held up under your breast, you were too bouncy and needed a bra. I tried it, but we laughed when my underbust could hold up a can of deodorant hands-free.
So to see if the B cup was what I think it is, I looked at store today, but every B had padding, most of the Cs too. Hard to figure. My insurance will require a minimum amount removed but there's plenty to go around. Can I just give the PS a picture of actress AnnHeche from the movie 6 days and 7 nights where she was stranded on an island, braless, with HarrisonFord? All her castaway clothes showed her perkies right through the cloth. I doubt I will ever be stranded braless, but with Bs it would be so nice to skip wearing one.

I wanted to be a B as well. I think I skipped size B when I was a teen. I was a small C following surgery and as of last week (7 weeks post op) I'm now fitting into most B's and a couple C's depending on the brand. My recovery was easy. My surgery was on a Thursday and I was back to regular routine on the Monday. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I only wish I gad done it at age 18.

I think I skipped B too, I never had perky, and I am so tired a struggling into bras. I hope I am as lucky as you and peediewife and am happy with the end result. I will just tell PS I want small, and hope my body structure will allow a nice B small C size

Don't get hung up on a specific size, your surgeon has to work with the width of your breast root and a safe blood and nerve supply. I have ended up c-d cup and it is a wonderful result, i did not have horrible stitches or anything and strongly suggest that you read my review for a very average and normal story

Yes, thank you, I did read your story, you are inspiring. I just don't want big boobs to deal with anymore, and from all the after pictures, I am afraid if I end up with D it will still be too big for me

I totally agree. If you're going to do this, go small! My thought going in was "if I needed to buy a bra with a little padding I was fine with that"! It would be a new experience. For the first time in my life I can go braless around the house. I haven't gone braless since I bought my first bra as a teen! :)

I rarely allow myself to be in photos, because I just look all boob. But I went through a few family group pics, and cropped out my all boob self.
