I got microblading done 4 days ago. The esthetician I chose had perfect reviews online. Her before and after pictures looked amazing, and yet somehow I still ended looking like a cross between an angry bird character, the dad from American Pie and a drag queen. I know that a lot can happen during the healing time and that you really can't determine what the final outcome will be until after your second appointment, BUT is clear to me that my experience was a complete fail! The shape is just way too large for my face. They are terribly uneven and they extend way too low on the ends. I've looked at some of the other pics on realself of what people consider bad work and honestly none of them compare to mine. I immediately went home and lightly washed the area thinking it was just residue ink because she left a lot on. Once I realized how bad they really were, regardless of ink or swelling, I begun to research what you can do to help remove/fade the process. So I did light scrubs of a mixture of Himalayan sea salt, peroxide and distilled water followed by an application of pure aloevera for a total 4 times. Basically until a scab formed which was about 36 hours later in hopes that it would draw the ink out. My scabs have started to fall off and I think I was able to remove a good portion of the ink but I won't know until a month from now once the redness has faded and you can see what the true color is. I contacted my esthetician yesterday about not being happy with the experience and asked if she was able to do a saline correction over some of the area. Particularly the left arch and the ends. She said it wasn't needed. That it will fade and some areas will appear uneven initially until full healing and that anything else could be corrected during touch-up visit. No, you can't correct this without removal of ink!!!
My advice to anyone considering microblading is to make sure you go in with your eyebrows done how you would like the final outcome to look. Also that you really take the time once the technician has drawn/mapped the outline on to fully inspect that and not just rely on what their previous work has looked like and then voice any obvious concerns then. My main mistake was there. I placed too much faith in her skill level, and combined with my ignorance of what the experience would entail, that I honestly wasn't paying close enough attention. Lastly, make sure the esthetician is able to do the saline correction. It makes absolutely no sense to me that the majority of estheticians do not do saline correction. You want your client to be 100% satisfied, and if a correction needs to be made you should be able to do that. I have contacted probably about 10 estheticians that do microblading and only 2 do the saline correction. That is retarded considering how popular the produce is now and the amount of women that are going to be looking for correction work. I am now just waiting for mine to heal enough to get them fixed. Which I have been quoted $400 just to remove the color from one salon. Royally pissed off!

Please keep in mind that microblading slices into the skin. Having any other microblading done WILL cause more scarring. Best to leave them alone for at least 3 months. Sorry to hear of your experience, I see and hear of it often in my own practice. Best of luck to you.

Thank you for your advice. I'm applying vitamin e oil religiously now and just praying the skin isn't too damaged that I can't get it corrected at some point.

Have you consulted Carol Packman yet? Not only is she incredibly experienced at removal and correction she is also the most honest and genuinely nice person. I'll be travelling to start removal with her in a few months

Thank you for the recommendation. I might be moving out of the area, but if not then I will definitely keep Carol in mind. Good luck with your removal.

No worries. I understand your pain, believe me! I also went to an extremely reputable/expensive place but ended up with grey brows that don't blend and have shattered my self confidence. Had to cut bangs to cover them. To make matters worse, I can't find anyone with sufficient skill and experience with saline removal locally to remove them so I am going to have to travel a huge distance to fix this mistake. Utter nightmare. I'd definitely give Carol a ring, even if you don't go ahead with any removal she'll give you lots of advice and an honest opinion. Check her out on yelp - all the reviews speak for themselves.

I was considering getting bangs myself. I too have a bit of a confidence issue. Got melasma during my pregnancy two years ago and now won't leave the house without foundation on. Hardly ever wore it before I go the melasma. So getting my eyebrows done was a Christmas gift from my hubby in hopes to boost my confidence about my looks. Well in a weird way I do t even notice my melasma anymore. I guess it's because I'm completely focused on my eyebrows every time I look in the mirror! And yep, already checked Carol out on yelp. She does have excellent reviews. I hope your experience with Carol helps to boost your confidence! We are our worst critics; keep that in-mind. I've always said it would be easier born a man. Wouldn't be in this position to begin with. Good luck

I am now the proud owner of a pair of grey eyebrows!
Long story, inexperienced technician, and can't get any info on what to do. Nobody local really wants to get involved with someone else's mess up. Told to wait 3 months before making appointment. I'm so

I'm sorry. Hopefully once they've healed you can find someone to correct them.

If color is your only complaint a good technician who understands color can take that grey out, and give you a color more to your liking.

Thank you, I will try another technician. However, my hairstrokes are thick blobs, don't think there is any hope for them until they hopefully fade off...

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Hopefully you can fix them with time!

Thank you. I'm hoping to as well.

they don't look as bad as you think. I had micro blading done on april 12 and mine were super dark and boxy and looked completely filled in like a tattoo. they fade significantly and each day they will look better and better. don't do any more saline washes until they are fully healed because they will eventually fade completely away on their own. the color does look like it doesn't match your actual eyebrow hair though. but they can add and fine tune the color at the touch up. the tails will fade the fastest first so done worry! hang in there my dear.

Aww, I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Yeah I only did the three saline scrubs. Didn't want to cause any scarring, if possible. They look much better and are fading daily. Will definitely need correction at some point. Good luck with your eyebrows!

I totally hear you! I haven't had bangs since I was about 12 years old (and swore I never would again as I have very thick hair) but luckily I have an amazing hairdresser who was able to do treatments on my hair and cut it so it's easy to style myself. You're right about being our own worst critics, I also work in the media industry so that makes it even harder as your job requires you to be around incredibly polished people. I understand what you mean about your melasma, I too didn't really appreciate my natural self until this happened. Now the little "flaws" like dark circles or a little redness I used to notice seem so silly and insignificant! I'm like you all I can see in the mirror is my crazy brows! I booked myself into microblading before Christmas as a pick me up to boost my confidence like you which is what makes it so ironic. Anyway, I'm hoping that in the end once this is eventually resolved it will make me much kinder to myself in the future. And the same for you too. I really really hope that with either fading or correction that you get back to a point where you're comfortable with your brows. Sending you lots of good luck too!
