WORTH IT
My sixtieth birthday is coming up, and I finally visited a plastic surgeon and have a date for my breast reduction surgery. I wish I had done this 20 years ago (at least I think I do). I'm optimistic that I will have a speedy recovery. I can't wait to go braless on a humid summer day, wear a Speedo, and throw away my all XL shirts.

I thought for years that I was being vain and selfish to even consider this, and I never imagined that my insurance would cover it. Also, I am used to being "invisible" at my age, and it's a little scary to consider how this surgery will change that. Thanks for the encouragement!

I am 57 now. And I am so excited and nervous. I am not a person to take care of me. But I a, so uncomfortable. I can't stand it. I probably not get allot of support for hubby. and I'm not telling any family members. Cause they are All selfish. So im doing this for me. And only me.

We need another "group" for those 55 and older and getting breast reductions. I am 76 and I never thought insurance would cover this procedure. Well a few years ago it didn't. It was all cosmetic. My date is Apr 9th and I can hardly wait. I am so excited. Just to think, button shirts will close.

I have wanted to have breast reduction for years. I had a baby in my mid 40s, and I was glad to be able to nurse, but time got away from me and I have had a great deal of trouble taking off all that baby weight in the past 18 years. I always wanted to lose the fat first. Now, at 63 I am seriously dieting and determined to have BR, as well as a tummy tuck. Also in MA. Eager to hear how it goes for you.

I decided not to wait until I lost all the weight I would like to, about 25 pounds. I do Jazzercise and aqua aerobics along with following Weight Watchers (we call it Whale Watchers) , and I feel my giant jugs are making it much harder to workout and lose weight.

Looks like it's really going to happen--now I'm feeling a bit nervous. My consultation with the surgeon was so short, and I'm thinking of lots of questions to ask her. I really appreciate the wisdom and support of this group. I know I'm not alone and that I'll be happy when it's over.

My surgery is April 21st. Still seems far in the future, but only 16 more work days!

we are having it done on the same day!!!!

That's funny--we'll have to stay in touch for morale support. I haven't really prepared for surgery yet (shopping, etc) because it seems way in the future.

hate typing on my ipad-meant moral support.

I feel great and am thankful that I have another week to recuperate before returning to work. I finally had the drains removed on Monday, and that was a huge relief. I drove my car today for the first time without any issues--thank goodness for power steering.
