Went to Ideal Image and so did my friend...

$2,392
Went to Ideal Image and so did my friend separately and two different locations. It was recommended that I they use the large device 18 mm twice on each side of my abdomen. My friend, same size, was recommended small device 15 mm on four locations of her abdomen. Mine would be l hr per treatment, and break in between totalling about 3 hrs. Her's would be 1 hr each treatment with a break in between each one totalling about 6 hrs. We both got the same price and were told that an additional treatment may be necessary for sculpting adding an additional $1,400. These prices were with 25% off. I later found that I could buy my own machine for about $4,000. It is not difficult to do. Just apply the cool membrane flat and apply vacuum device, wait an hour then repeat on other side. There are videos on Youtube. We will do our thighs ourselves and our friends can chip in on the machine if they want to do it.

She was a nurse assistant. I think they called her a RNA. Registered nurse assistance? I think she was just a college student on break. They say they have PAs but who's the doctor? I don't think I need a doctor for this. I have no medical issues. It's like working a vacumm cleaner in one spot, stationary. Turn timer on and it turns off. Pretty simple. Message when done. The sales girl couldn't get through her sales pitch quick enough. She just wants to sell it and have you come back for another sculpting. They have quick and easy financing.

Brandnew Coolsculpting machine costs about 50000 for a reason... Chinese "knock offs" are simply not powerful enough to get the job done (especially the suctioning part). I would highly discourage you from wasting your money. Most likely the cheap device will break in a week or two and you won't be able to get refund or replacement. Also, I doubt the device will pass USA customs.

Not to mention the things that can go wrong (necrosis) if the temperature is too low

The original machines cost about 35,000 6 yrs ago Zeltig. You can now get them second hand or buy another brand with comparable specs for about $5,000. Google it. There are a few reputable sites even a Zeltiq one.

Googled: you can buy real Zeltiq IF you have license and atleast 30000$. There are no compatible machines available for purchase within USA because only zeltiq is FDA approved and again you would need a license to purchase it. The Chinese analogs are not comparable at all . I am not a healthcare provider who is interested in promoting Zeltiq. I had this crazy idea in my head for a while but came to a conclusion that it is too risky to spend 4000-5000 $ on something that most likely won't work ( look at the youtube videos with Chinese knock offs - the machine is NOT strong enough to suck the fat in. Remember, if you buy from overseas it might not pass customs or if it breaks you won't get any help from the manufacture ( these machines don't even have brand name! )

Jesus! This is just not smart! It is not as simple as just vacuuming your fat. Yes the machine sucks a chunk of your skin and fat folds for a minimum of 50 minutes but you MUST be careful there are many other factors. I know that you will do as you want and I don't know you to care enough to plead you to have sanity before doing a self project on your body. But to post this for others to see and someone else possibly thinking 'oh that is a good idea" my comment is for those folks, because no this is not a good idea, it is stupid and irresponsible to say the least. You comment in disbelief that the facility has what you believe are RNAs or PAs and appear to not think that that is substantial training maybe not, but yet you yourself would consider it? Have a cool sculpting party with your friends like it is a makeup part. Unbelievable! Like I said you will do as you wish, but anyone else who reads this, nope stupid idea. If you turn out deformed you will be a news headline...woman tries to perform own Cool Sculpting medical procedure and manages to suck her skin off and vacuum her kidneys, liver and spleen in the machine. lol Good Luck with that!

btw I went to my consultation and they quoted me $13,000 for 24 applications. Imagine my disbelief, but I would never think of doing it myself to save money instead SAVE THE MONEY to do it safely and decide on which areas are most important. Do it right or don't do it at all.

Obviously you haven't had it done. It is not a medical procedure for one. It is my understanding that you can go to a one time demonstration/training sales pitch by Zeltig and they will give you a certificate if you buy their machine. The procedure does not need nor require a physician. I have gone to 3 consults now and have yet to meet or be evaluated by a physician, PA, nurse. So far they have been sales people who go thru a list of does and don'ts so to speak. You can watch videos on YouTube, etc. This has been around for years and is now becoming economical and affordable. Just like the I-lipo that use to be $1,500 now is $30 a session 4 yrs later. Zeltiq machines were expensive yrs ago now they have other companies making them. It's modern technology progression. Out with the old in with the new.

I would go for a second opinion. This is for people who are less than 20 lbs over weight. 24 sessions or procedures seems to be allot. It is always good to get more than one consult.

I definitely am going for another consult. My first was at Ideal Image I only went there because it was free. The other places that do it here it is $50 for an RN to do the consultation (I am assuming the RN performs the procedure) or $100 for the plastic surgeon, MD (again my assumption is the MD does the procedure). I wanted to see if I would first eb a candidate because you are right I thought I had too much fat to have it done. You are also correct that it very much a "sales pitch" more so than a medical consultation. Nothing she explained made me feel confident that she has the medical aptitude. I guess that is how Ideal Image does business. For this main reason I prefer to now go pay for a consultation for a doctor. With that said I still think it is not a good idea for anyone to perform it on themselves because there are any number of things that could go wrong. Just like a home remodel, that all looks so simple and sometimes fun especillay if you watch any one of these shows or see a youtube, but there is always something unexpected that occurs that costs extra time, money and headache. Why risk it on your body and health? If you do something wrong, who do you sue? Not the seller of the machine or the maker because you took the risk yourself. Whichever you decide, be careful and be smart. I feel your pain, mine is worse at a quote of $13k. Good luck!

Taking the Plunge for Coolsculpting!

Tami37
I went to Esana Med Spa in New Haven yesterday for a consult. I am having the procedure done next week and will take before and progress photos. I had gone to other places where I had just met a pushy sales person and got very different suggestions. I liked the direct and non sales approach at Esana. They were almost half the price of Ideal Image and Radiance Med Spa in Avon and you actually meet a real doctor and friendly staff. You're not paying for sales people and waiting areas which is fine by me. They didn't even ask for a deposit or push financing. I was shocked compared to the other 3 places. Can't wait to try it and looking forward to rebuying the clothing I got rid of last Fall. I've had 4 kids and nothing seems to work in my mid section.

Waiting for post-procedure update!

I went there and they are nice people. It's not their fault that the coolsculpting doesn't work. I would/will go back and try other things.

Highly Recommend Esana.

Was pleasantly surprised with the staff and procedure. I was a bit nervous but she made me feel like we're good friends. She explained/warned me of everything prior to doing it. That has it's pros and cons. I'm the type of person that if you say it hurts, my imagination makes it 10 times worse. It really wasn't that bad. I would say tolerable in my case. I had my upper and lower ab region done. The cold film wasn't so cold. I expected it to be a lot worse because I was prewarned. The suction on the lower ab was acceptable. Initially for about 20 seconds you feel the suction but by the time you realise it that part is done. In my case if you are talking or watching a show on my ipad you barely notice. Then for about 2-4 minutes there is a tingly prickly feeling which goes away for the most part. Finally, it's basically turn your show on or play candy crush to pass hour of time. When it's removed, it is red and numb but prickly. The message wasn't so bad at all. The only part you feel is the cold around the edge of the area that was treated. When it came to wiping off the gel stuff that felt scratchy. Not sure if it was the gauze or the unfreezing part but still tolerable. When it came to the upper abs the same thing was done. The difference was the suction. The upper ab area was more sensitive. I asked why and she said because there is less fat so it pulls up easier. I just felt uncomfortable if I moved. No candy crush during the lower abs. I turned on the ipad and watched a show which made it go by fast. After the device was removed from the upper ab, the lower ab/pelvic region had already turned to it's normal color but still a numb. She did the same massage, wipe off, weighed me and off to the gym I went with no issues even with the ab machines.

Within 2 - 3 hrs I had noticed a bit of swelling, 24 hrs. later I have a few bruise marks around the edge of the suction area on the upper ab. Today they are purple and some red, slightly sensitive. My lower ab area still seems numb and now hard. Not the usual jelly belly. I'm taking this as a good sign. The upper area is tender but is normal now other than the spotted bruise line.
All in all it was a pleasant experience and not half as bad as I thought. I am glad I had read reviews on here to see what I was getting into. I am one who thinks worse case scenario in hopes of being pleasantly surprised. If it works, I may do my thighs. I would put a pic up but I can't figure out how.
