WORTH IT
I had a failed root canal due to a possibly cracked tooth. I was super nervous about a bone graft because it just sounds awful, right? It was a breeze so far! We used cadaver bone (no second surgerical site!) and extraction went well. Zero pain alternating hydrocodone and ibupofen every 3 hours per doc. Ice for 10 min, off for 30. Bought lots of healthy liquid and soft foods to speed healing. I also got antibiotics and mouth rinse. Take care of yourself and rest!!! Days 2-3 can be the worst. Post-op in 7 days :)

Yes! Thankfully for me, the tooth was ready to go and t was pretty smooth sailing minus the tooth next to it losing its filling!

Sounds like it went well for you. I am seeing doctor soon, I am still having moderate pain after seven days. The bone graft is in gums, but it does not feel natural. Thanks.

Did the bone graft finally settle in I had mine six weeks ago. My gums feel weird and tight?

Ouch!

Update: tooth #14 is quite sensitive to cold. I’m guessing it’s angry! Before extraction it had 1 mm of pulpits but nothing requiring treatment. Hoping it settles down! But zero swelling, surgical site itself doesn’t even hurt. The worst pain I had overall was the injection site on the soft pallet for the anesthetic! Some tips I have are as follows: eat a very and soft healthy diet (and no straws!). I’ve had tofu, cold pressed juices, smoothies, cottage cheese, etc. Take a good probiotic a few hours away from your antibiotic. Rest! Sleep elevated for a few days. And follow ALL instructions from your doc to a TEA! Hoping post-surgery check up is a good one :)

Day 2: can start salt water rinses

Day 2! Still no swelling. Not much pain to speak of! #14 is still mad but not as angry. I can start salt water rinses 3-5 times a day today. Just took some ibupofen (only 300 mg). But other than that, slept well! Tomorrow the DH goes back to work and the kid has no school, so it’s my last day of pure laziness.
