Seven months post-rhinoplasty (with another surgeon I hasten to add) I was left seriously regretting the whole experience - and wishing I'd *never* ventured into the world of plastic surgery. I'm pleased to say however that my experience with Dr Joseph and his team has gone a long long way to putting things right. To give a little context I felt that my pre-rhinoplasty appearance was fairly attractive, however there were always certain aspects of my nose that I couldn't feel happy with. I had the general idea that an improved (and slightly smaller) version of my own nose (but not radically altered) was what I was looking for, even though the idea of plastic surgery made me feel very uneasy - and something I had outright dismissed several years earlier in my early twenties. To cut a long surgery short the results of my subsequent rhinoplasty were unfortunately not at all what I had hoped for, and several months post-op it was becoming clear that I wasn't going to be satisfied with my appearance (which I felt had been dramatically altered). This, I understand, was partly due to my individual skin type and healing, but also due to my choice of surgeon and him not really listening to what I wanted (this was admittedly though also my fault in part, as well as a lesson learnt - it sounds so obvious to me now but you should always be 100% sure your surgeon understands *exactly* what you are asking for). Anyway, seven months post-op and feeling quite desperate I contacted several very reputable revision rhinoplasty specialists - all confirmed my worse fears that I would need further surgery to correct multiple problems. The worst part however was knowing I would have to wait at least another 5 months to undergo another surgery... and the cost would be far more than the original surgery - and not something I could afford. However whilst searching options on the internet I happened upon RealSelf and ended up posting. Thankfully Dr Joseph was one of the surgeons who offered advice, but he was also the only one offering an alternative to revision rhinoplasty, which appealed to me immediately. I should probably add at this point that I'm from the UK so I wasn't quite sure what my options would be, but I sent Dr J a (very long!) email detailing all my complaints anyway. Happily I received a very warm response - and several emails (and a Skype conversation later) I had booked my flight to New York. The whole experience of meeting Dr J and his staff (as well as the treatment) was brilliant - everyone was professional, yet friendly and relaxed. I was quite apprehensive about the results the injections would give but after the first round I was already looking much more 'normal'. Dr J injected above the nostrils to minimise the retracted appearance and asymmetry, as well as in the tip area to fill it out and diminish the pinched 'operated' look. He also added some height to the bridge as I felt my previous surgeon had given me a much more curved profile than I had wanted. The injections were slightly uncomfortable but really nothing at all to worry about. After the second treatment (around a month later) Dr J added some more height to the bridge as well as to the tip, and I'm now so much happier with the appearance of my nose (and my whole face...). I was thrilled Dr J was able to help correct my nose around 7/8 months following my first surgery - and even with the added expense and inconvenience of hotels and flights from London, the cost was extremely reasonable - and much, much less than revision rhinoplasty. I'm so relieved more than anything though to have avoided further surgery, pain, and the associated and prolonged recovery period. I'm so grateful to Dr Joseph for offering me an alternative to revision rhinoplasty - I only wish he would relocate to Europe (!) as I'd hopefully like to see him again for another treatment in a few months time to add a little more height to the bridge - and possibly to the tip (it still hasn't been a year since my first surgery so I will inevitably see more changes). I would freely recommend Dr Joseph and his team to anyone who asks me - you will be hard pushed to find a more talented and caring surgeon and an efficient, warm and courteous team in my opinion.
