I pretty much wore glasses/contacts all my life as I am highly myopic ( about -900 and -1000, and my vision is a blur without glasses). I really hate wearing glasses so I only wear them around the house, and always wore contact lenses when I am out and about. Even though I loved wearing contacts, it was a hassle as I have to remove them every night. In addition, the winter makes my eyes dry and so it was harder to wear the contacts for the whole day. Anyways, a friend of mine had LASIK done recently with wonderful results. This really inspired me so I decided it was time that I get LASIK as well. All I can say is that the result is phenomenal! The procedure itself lasted about 10 minutes, and then I was told to go home and take a long nap. When I woke up from my nap, I noticed I could actually see without my glasses (even though it wasn't 20/20 vision yet)! The next day I woke up and I could actually see my surroundings clearly without my glasses! I went for my follow up appointment that same morning and was told that my surgery went very well and that my vision will continue to improve throughout the course of the week. I was told at the appointment that my right eye was about 20/30, but my left eye was lagging a little behind because of the higher myopia, which means it will take a little longer to heal. Either way, I noticed that my vision continued to improve throughout the rest of the day. Overall, I am very pleased with my result! I highly recommend LASIK for those of you who are myopic and would love to be able to see without glasses/contacts. Overall I would say this is an amazing life-changing experience and I am very happy with it! However, I would like to stress the importance of going to a good surgeon, even if it costs a little more. Remember that this is an eye surgery after all. If you go to a not-so-great surgeon just to save money, you run the risk of getting poor surgery result along with lots of side effects and complications. I hope this review inspires those who have been debating about LASIK surgery but are too scared to get it done :)
