33 Years Old and Putting Myself Back to Together Again! - Newtown, PA

I am 33 years old and have just recently completely my 3rd plastic surgery procedure through Bucks County Plastic Surgery Center in Newtown, PA. The practice is owned by Dr. Robert Skalicky who has completed 2 out of my 3 surgeries. So, let's start with a little bit about me. I was overweight for much of my life until about 8 years ago when I decided to make a change. I lost over 100 pounds, but unfortunately that left my 5'2 frame with lots of excess skin. It didn't matter how much I worked out or lifted, there was simply nothing I could do about the skin that was left over. It was so depressing because although I had worked so hard to lose all of the weight, now I still looked in the mirror and didn't like what I saw. I basically traded in one batch of insecurities and collected another. So that is when I decided to do something about it. My first procedure was a tummy tuck and thigh lift. My second procedure was a breast augmentation with a lift. Although I was thrilled with the results of both (which I will share at a later date) I still hated my arms. My entire life I was the girl who would never wear a tank top. I would strategically pick outfits or dresses with sleeves or things that were off the shoulder that would cover my arms in the right places. But after coming this far, I didn't want to live like that anymore. I was nervous about the arm lift simply because of the scarring. I was unsure of the placement and how it all worked, but after sitting down with my doctor and his staff and reviewing pictures of his work, I was more convinced than ever that I NEEDED to have this procedure done and ASAP! But there was just one problem... Dr. Skalicky who performed my first two procedures was completely booked for the next few months. Due to some events coming up I really did not want to wait, so he recommended me having the procedure done by his partner, Dr. Michael Shafran. WHHHAAAATTTT??? You want me to have this final procedure done by someone I don't even know?!?! That was my exact reaction! I was already super comfortable with Dr. Skalicky and loved his worked so I was very hesitant, however knowing how much I trust him, I took his recommendation very seriously. I sat down with Dr. Shafran to discuss the procedure and within the first few minutes of meeting him I already felt completely at ease. He was so friendly and easy to talk to. He made me feel super comfortable from the very beginning and it was then that I was convinced that he would absolutely do a fantastic job on my third and final procedure. In the next few weeks that followed before my procedure he was there to answer any questions or concerns about what would happen during the procedure and after. On the day of surgery, he came in to mark me and again just made me feel completely at ease with what as about to take place. Dr. Skalicky who was also scheduled to perform a procedure that day even popped in to give me a hug and make sure I was ready and comfortable. Things went very smoothly with the surgery which took about 2.5 or 3 hours. After I was out of surgery, Dr. Shafran stopped to see me and also met with my mother in the waiting room and let her know that things had gone well and that he thought I'd be really happy with the results. That evening when I was home, Dr. Shafran called to check up on me and make sure I was feeling ok. The follow up and one on one attention these doctors give you really makes you feel like you're in great hands. Never once in my entire 3 years of dealing with this practice was I made to feel like just another patient. The doctors and the entire office staff have really made me feel like I'm a part of their family. It's a pretty awesome feeling and I actually get excited and look forward to my follow ups so I can see everyone. But the absolute best part of the entire experience is that I LOVE MY NEW ARMS!!! I feel like a completely different person. This entire journey has really changed my life for the better in so many ways because I'm so much more comfortable in my own skin. And the best part it, the pictures I've posted are only 3 weeks out from my surgery. There is still some significant swelling that will subside in the next few weeks and the scars will flatten and lighten, but to be only 3 weeks out and already look so great almost seems unreal! I'm so glad I decided to move forward with the procedure and Dr. Shafran did such an amazing job. I would 150% recommend both Dr. Skalicky and Dr. Shafran if you are considering having any cosmetic procedures done and live within the area. They are also opening a secondary location this fall in King of Prussia, PA. I can promise you that you will not be disappointed!

OMG your story bought tears to my eyes as I have gone they same things as you regarding weight loss and my arms that stop me from being normal and feeling beautiful. I have my arm procedure in 10/8 if you could share with me what to expect regarding pain and managing Doug things I would really appreciate it, I'm terrified of the unknown pain.

Hi Maria! Thank you for your message and congratulations on your weight loss and upcoming procedure! To be honest, I found the pain with this procedure to be very manageable. The tummy tuck was bar far the hardest and most painful recovery. The arms really weren't so much painful as they were uncomfortable but you will heal very quickly and the immediate results will help move you along too! I only took pain meds for 3 days with my arm procedure. You will do great! Good luck and keep me posted on how it goes!

Thanks for sharing your experience with Dr, Shafran. I have actually seen him today and discussed 3 procedures that I need to get done, however I met him the first time and wasn't really sure what the doctor is he. You made me feel better. I'm considering tummy tuck, I hope he can do the same great job as DR. Skalicky.

Looking great, thanks so much for sharing your story! :)

Congratulations on all you've accomplished. Your arms look great in the 'after' picture. When you next post, would it be possible to share how the incision looks from the back when your arms are down? Your scar doesn't look visible from the front at all (fantastic) so wondering about what's seen from behind. Most people don't post that view, so I thought I'd ask. My combined surgery of breast, arm and body lift is October 25! Wanted to spread it out like you did but afraid of 3 separate surgeries and their recoveries at my age (61).

I am about to do the same thing and do not need full arm lift.

Was this the full arm lift or the mini-lift with the scar in the armpit?

Thank you everyone! I will post another picture from the back so you can see how it looks. I had the full arm lift done so my incisions come down to the elbow but the placement of the incision is so well hidden you really can't see it unless I raise my arms above my head. @nakedandafraid123 good luck on your surgery! I'm sure you'll be thrilled with the results!

6 weeks post arm lift

Hello all! I know people are curious about the scar that is left behind when you have a full arm life so I am posting some pics to show you what it looks like. The top pic is to show my progress as the swelling continues to go down. I'm so excited to be able to see a little definition and cannot wait until I'm fully cleared to get back in the gym and start building some toned sexy arms! The second picture is to show you the scar. Yes, it is a long incision. But please keep in mind that you can only see it when my arm is raised like this. Also, this is only 6 weeks out. Scars will get pink before they completely lighten to skin tone, but I am so pleased with how well they are coming along so soon after surgery. I apply Bio Oil scar treatment to them 3 times/day and it works wonders! I hope this helps answer some questions/concerns.
