at about age 47 I was noticing signs of aging that I didn't like I had bags under

my eyes forehead wrinkles and jowls. I looked much older than what I felt

inside..I also had eyelid hooding that made me look tired and angry. It took me

about a year to get my nerve up to have a facelift, browlift and upper and lower

blepharoplasty .I interviewed and talked to about 6 different plastic surgeons

before I made my final decision at age 48 I decided to do something about

it my surgery was April 25, 2013.

April 24th: I'm a nervous wreck worried about surgery in the morning the not knowing is the worst part. will it be painful? how bad will the swelling and bruising be?

April 25th : I reported to the surgery center at 815 for a 930 am surgery. I

arrived and the staff was friendly and put me at ease, I had to answer a lot of

questions the surgeon came in and answered my last minute questions and marked my

face with permanent marker and then the Anesthesiologist came in and talked to me a surgery lasted from 930 am

to 230pm and I spent an hour in recovery. when I woke up my eyes and face felt

tight and I was nauseous, I received medication to relieve the nausea and then I was

sent home.
after I got home I took pain meds every 4 hours just to stay on top of the pain

I used ice every couple of hours also. I have some bruising and swelling but its

not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

april26th :I went back to surgery center and they removed the drains , changed

the the bulky dressing and washed my hair. bruising has improved. Im still taking

pain meds every 6 hours.

April 27th: bruising has improved even more but I still have swelling under my

eyes . I haven't needed pain meds today, Ive just been taking tylenol.

April 28th: numbness is going away, however there is some soreness and achiness in the neck and jaw area, my neck is now turning yellow

April 29th: lots of yellowing around eyes now and my neck feels tight and sore with yellow bruising.

Loving your recovery journal. You really got the works done and I bet you're still feeling pretty drained. Please continue to keep us updated. And to echo what kanobe said, photos would be extremely helpful!

Would love to hear and see an update to your experiences. I read your question to doctors 3 years ago, and then your journal. I had to laugh. It is easier to say there is no pain to a surgical procedure if you are the surgeon rather than the patient, apparently. I had my FL in September, and had absolutely no regrets, but I also took pain meds, because I needed to, too. Thank you for sharing your experiences, they were helpful.

I still have some bruising ranging from purple to yellow but the bruises are smaller now. im still having some soreness on my scalp and neck. I only feel the soreness when the areas are touched for example using a washcloth with the lightest touch is very uncomfortable or when I brush my hair. otherwise I feel great

I have found if I place a steaming hot face cloth near the bruises and let the skin flush then put some arnica on bruises dissappear incredibly fast. Do this 3 times a day if I can and definately before bed.
