I am 54, and was overweight my entire life. I gained a true, healthy education about food and physical health 1.5 yrs ago, lost 70 lbs eating 'clean' and exercising. I had a lot of upper thigh loose skin and decided I did not have to live with it. I researched plastic surgeons and decided on a wonderful surgeon, Dr. Siamak Agha , Newport Beach. Love him, his staff, and just 2 weeks out, no bruising, no red, very straight clean incision that is already thin! (dry skin but I'll be able to moisturizer soon!). I went into this decision very fearful because I've read a lot of complications that people have - not sure why. Dr. Agha is a big believer in taking vitamin supplements to improve the healing process and I have religiously taken all of the supplements that he recommends including a high protein diet. I have been 100% compliant to every instruction given, had 4 drains in, 3 of them for 2 full weeks (in my opinion, the worst part!) I am driving, getting around with extreme caution, and so relieved to be healing so well this early on! I can't imagine how great my legs will look 3-6 months from now! I do have suggestions for anyone having this surgery:
1) When they write your pain prescription, have them include Movantik!
2) Instead of adhesive based tape to hold bandages in place, purchase the product I pictured...it sticks to itself not your skin. I ended up with horrible skin wounds from adhesive tape!
3) Measure your waist, hips, and thighs in advance of the surgery, and order compression garments in advance that are appropriately sized. They are expensive, but you will need more than 1 and you want to get it right. I purchased from Make Me Heal. Best advice I received was it should be uncomfortable but not painful.
4) Have on hand a walker, a raised potty seat, sponge bath gloves/shampoo, and a wedge to elevate your legs when laying down.
5) Supplements: Vitamins A, B, C, Zinc, Copper, Bromelain & Arnica. Take them religiously!!!
