Mini Tummy Tuck 3 Weeks Old - Newport Beach, CA

ORIGINAL POST

Hi all, I had a mini tummy tuck done three weeks...

Hi all, I had a mini tummy tuck done three weeks ago to correct some sagging skin that was very noticeable when I bent over. The skin sagged from my lower abdomen to mid stomach. I had lost around 80 pounds and was frustrated after all the work I did to lose it I was still embarrassed to be in a bathing suit or be seen naked by my husband (husband is great, he said I made this up in my head). I decided to get a mini tummy tuck to correct the sagging skin, and after the procedure I have some questions for anyone who has had a tummy tuck. I've read swelling is the worst 3-4 weeks after and I'm wondering if my belly will return to being smooth instead of being puffed up like it is. Also wondering how much less noticeable the scar will become and if the puckering in the ends of the incision will go down. My stomach is usually a lot flatter than it is now and I can't decide if I made a mistake or if I'm just swollen. Haven't had a chance to make it to my 3rd week appointment because of work issues. Thanks everyone!!

you are swollen, it isn't a bad idea to have had it done. I am finding myself 6 weeks in and swelling differently all the time. I had a full tummy tuck so i notice my upper abs are an inch out sometimes. My tummy looks odd because the swelling of those repaired muscles. However, every week i notice better things and smoother areas. I know this is the best decision i made, even tho it will take more time to be fully back to ourselves.
Your scar will lessen, its really good for 3 weeks. be patient.

Thanks nike11 that made me feel a lot better about the surgery. I know I'm very impatient it's just so much money to not come out like I wanted. I should've had a full tummy tuck done but can't change it now lol. I'm glad that you're so happy with yours!! Take care.

Sometimes when it hurts i feel maybe the timing was wrong. Mostly i am happy that i did it now and most of the time i feel really good about it. Its just trying to sort out the bad eating habits i made over the 6 weeks. lol. I have done 2 work outs this week and i am getting excited to start my routine again. :)
I am impatient too and sometimes i wish i got my boobs done too. but still losing my baby weight i didn't want to be top heavy, now i am thinking i wish i did. lol we can't change it now. just go with the flow and once your swelling is down you will love your belly.

I'm excited to start working out too it's hard to start again once you haven't worked out in so long though, at least for me. And get your boobs done I did mine cause they sagged really bad after the weightloss, best thing I've ever done!!! So much more confident and that's so important if you're self conscious like me. Plus bras look so good

I felt the same way! I thought, oh...all that money and I didn't get the results perfectly and shudda got a full. Not true! I'm thrilled now that I got the mini and it's just what I needed. The results will thrill you over time. The swelling make the results look abnormal. Sometimes you swell here and not there and it makes it look like it's your body and nothing you can do about it. It's not true. It will pass I promise. You're gonna love it.

Implants are hard on the body. It's constantly trying to get rid of the foreign objects and it cuts your energy level. I had mine removed and I'm so happy and free. It feels like you have something under your skin at all times. Your tt will get better and better and you'll love it. 6 weeks is still swell hell. All the best.

Hi I agree to the previous comment. Swelling can last months I'm 5 months post op tt and I still have swelling. Keep compression on.

I am 3 weeks post op from a mini and still swollen, although it does vary from day to day and hour to hour. I think it just takes awhile for the swelling to totally go away -- I have read it could even take several months. Hang in there!

You look great! I bet you're thrilled. I'm almost 9 months post mini-tt. It's hard to believe it's that long. I have seen so many changes. You swell for about 3 months after any kind of exercise or movement. After 3 months it's intermittent until about 5 months. You will notice a huge difference then. The swelling will disappear at 6 months. I noticed that it gets almost worse after 5 months because you get all your energy back and you're doing more. Then poof at 6 months it's all gone. I'm swell free now at 8+ months and it's amazing. I still can't believe it. I'm bikini ready and thrilled with the new/old me. At the early stages I was finding all these flaws but they literally smooth out over time. Trust the process and journey and enjoy it. You look really great. You're going to look amazing by 9 months. It goes by slow the first few months and then it starts to fly by as the swell subsides. All the best! Glad you did it!

Great advice. Thanks for the encouragement. Allnaturalme
I never knew the recovery was so long. They told me, but I was like "I'm a beast and i will be full swing in weeks" NOT... If I only knew that it could take 6 months like I know it Now, I may have pushed to do it sooner so I'm summer ready, guess this means another winter vacation South... Tee hee
