Here are some before/after pictures.

I am now on my fourth day post-op, healing great so far.

I had been living with gynecomastia since puberty,...

I had been living with gynecomastia since puberty, so I basically had this condition for more than twenty years. I had been looking into getting the surgery for a long time but had hesitated to go through with the procedure because of the cost and, mostly, because I was afraid that something would go wrong and I would end up disfigured.

After years of debating with this decision, I finally decided to get it done. I started researching different plastic surgeons around my area and went in for a couple of consultations. I found Dr. Joseph Cruise, only thirty minutes away in Newport Beach, and as soon as I went in for the consultation I knew he was the right doctor for me--he and his staff are simply amazing and I cannot even put into words how grateful I am to them.

Surgery day: My surgery was done under local anesthesia. This was initially what worried me the most, the thought of being awake during the whole thing was kinda nervewrecking. But I have to say that It was no big deal at all, they gave me some Xanax and I was so relaxed I think I slept through the entire thing. I do remember feeling a bit of pain/discomfort at one point when they were doing the liposuction, but it was no big deal.

I went home right after the surgery and just took it easy the whole day. I didn't feel much pain, I would say the most uncomfortable thing about this whole procedure has been the drains. They're not painful but just annoying and I'm always worried i'm gonna accidentally pull on them.

Next day I went in for my check up. The staff was great as ususal and my nurse took me in to the room to show me what my new chest looked like. Before she took the bandages off, she gave me a long speech about how I shouldn't be alarmed if I look a bit weird, she explained how I might see some swelling, bruising, and even cratering and how it might take time for everything to look normal. This actually got me kinda nervous because I had researched way too much information online and had seen pictures and read horror stories. My main worry was that the extra skin would be too loose and my chest would look deflated and wrinkly. It was so funny because once she removed the bandages my initial reaction was "I look freaking amazing!" I think even she was surprised, and she mentioned that not everyone looks as good as me the next day. I had very minimal swelling, no bruising, and everything looked perfect!--at least to me.

It is now three days after my surgery and I think it's already looking even better. I have not had any swelling, bruising, or even real pain. I only took the pain meds once and hated the way they made me feel so I bought a bottle of Tylenol but I haven't even had the need to take them.

I am very happy with my results so far. I am so glad I chose Dr. Cruise, I think he did an amazing job and now its' just up to me to make sure I follow the directions and hopefully my body will heal properly.

My advice to anyone wanting to get this procedure is to just do it! I already have a whole bunch of t-shirts and tank-tops and I cannot wait to wear them!
